"Runway in sight" !?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

During a flight without copilot (A2A C172), after ATC said me to report runway in sight, a "ghost" copilot harass me with talk about runway in sight

Sorry if this question has already been asked.

Regards,

Hello,

I take it you are using MCE with the 1st officer disabled and ATC functions enabled?

Are you using Radar Contact v4?

I sometimes use MCE just for the Radar Contact ATC. I have not come across any "ghost pilot".

Is the voice one of the MCE 1st officers that you have installed. In other words, is it one of our guys or is the voice truly a ghost?

I don't fly the A2A C172, so unless A2A have a "pseudo" crew member, I am unable to explain what's happening!

If it persists, could you post a short You Tube video of the phenomenon?

Best regards

David

Hello David,

Yes, only checked the ATC function, others are unchecked.

Are you using Radar Contact v4?

No, only the native atc

I sometimes use MCE just for the Radar Contact ATC. I have not come across any "ghost pilot".

It happens only in the event where the control atc ask me to report "runway in sight" (ifr flight). Create an IFR flight and expect a visual approach from the native atc.

Is the voice one of the MCE 1st officers that you have installed. In other words, is it one of our guys or is the voice truly a ghost?

Yes, it's the 1st officers's voice. It is almost as if the 1st officer function has been activated (however this is not the case).

I don't fly the A2A C172, so unless A2A have a "pseudo" crew member, I am unable to explain what's happening!

No the A2A c172 have not any crew member except visual model unlike the A2A Piper or A2A StratoCruiser.

If it persists, could you post a short You Tube video of the phenomenon?

Shame on me I never do that !

You need to turn option "Co-pilot can handle ATC if busy" OFF.

As part of the implementation, every time new ATC options are displayed, FO will know whether something needs to be acknowledged or reported.

If you don't react within a time frame, he will assume you are too busy and will automatically take over ATC duties. He wants to know if you have the runway in sight so he can say so to ATC, I mean to select option "Report runway in sight".

"Runway in sight" or "runway in use"?

Runway in sight

Understood, I thought that the fact to unchecked "Real Cockpit Crew Coordination" function sent the first officer in his home but it seems he may be hiding in the luggage compartment. :P

Thanks for this Gerald.

Blimey, I have been using MCE for a while now and never saw this in the menu!

I take it the 1st officer will reply to RC4 as well, if he "see's" that I don't reply? (Is the time frame adjustable?)

This is good, I may keep schtum, just to let my 1st officer answer for me! How good is this? I bet no other product will do this? B)

Cheers

David

Never mind.

The feature was initially devised for Native ATC. It's usually disabled with RC4.

Don't forget, right now only William FO can handle ATC when using RC4. Lorna will follow later on.

I guess at some point in the future, it will equally apply to RC4.

Thanks Gerald,

I never use native ATC that explains why I never herd the 1st Officer replying for me!

And yes....looking forward to Lorna working the Radios!! I can eat my packet of crisps whilst flying then  :P

Best Regards

David
