MCE>>>Copilot's voice>>>VoxAtc

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm trying VoxAtc (trial). So, I read that it was possible to assign copilot MCE's voice to the copilot VoxAtc's voice. I searched various forums but I found nothing. How do you do that ?

It is unfortunate that RC does not offer too a trial version. I hesitate between the two or between the three (native atc) because it seems curious that VoxAtc and RC do not manage some radar vectors with mountains or some geographical constraints, what however does native Atc !

Thank you in advance,

Regards,

Richard Portier

Hello Richard,

I don't use VoxATC, but you can have MCE use the "William" voice (soon Lorna also) as the Radar Contact v4 voice. In other words your 1st officer will take over the RC4 radios for you. You will simply use the onscreen RC4 menu and your 1st officer will do all the work!

After downloading the "William voice pack for RC4", here are the instructions;-

To install William Voice Pack for RC4, please proceed as follows...

Go to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder

Rename folder "50" to "Backup-50"

Copy the folder named "50" to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder.

Go to RC4 user interface.

Under Voices, go to <Co-pilot> tab and select "MCE William V4"

If using Multi Crew Experience, and you want to avoid RC4 transmitting again when you have done so using speech recognition, you will need to replace one more folder.

Go to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder

Rename folder "51" to "Backup-51"

Copy the folder named "51" to \RC4 installation\Winwood\ folder.

Folder "51" contains very short files containing nothing but recorded silence.

Go to RC4 user interface.

Under Voices, go to <Pilots> tab and select "My Voice V4"

Now as for RC4 and vectors over high terrain. Well I can say RC4 does give some very good vectors to most airports. I have flown into Innsbruck with RC4 vectors.

However, I use the RC4 feature that allows you to utilise your own approach profile, say from your STAR or your own approach choice. This is the method I prefer to become established on the approach of my choice, since  STARS have altitude constraints appended.  I find this the procedure of choice when using the modern FMC's in the NGX, for example.

Once you receive clearance from RC4, you fly your approach (unmolested by RC4) until established and from there the RC4 Tower will control you in.

Hope this is of help.

Cheers

David

Hi David,

Thanks a lot for all these precious comments about RC4. Very interesting to know about vectors over high terrain.

By now I have some days to test VoxAtc. For the moment I'm not decided what to do regarding the RC4, VoxAtc or native Atc.

Yes you can.

Since VoxATC uses TTS voices, go to <Command> tab in MCE user interface and click <Change> button next to assigned co-pilot voice.

You probably have a real humand recorded voice assigned right now.

Click the "TTS voices" option above the listbox and select the same voice assigned in VoxATC.

Our recorded co-pilot voices cannot currently handle VoxATC speech. The only way is TTS.

On the other hand, with Radar Contact, you can get both William and LOrna to handle ATC. And soon, FO Bill USA will have that capability.

Thank you Gerald,

In fact it's an old topic (Posted 12 February 2014) back to the surface with a message without any punctuation posted (just above yours) unrelated to the subject !

Anyway thank you again  Since this time I fly with VoxAtc and MCE of course !
