February 17, 201412 yr Ive become a convert to Prepar3d; however, seems since I upgraded to V2, there seems to be a problem with the autopilot in the default regional jet. When I engage the APP button, the autopilot will track the runway but sends the plane into a nosedive, whereby I have to disengage and fly manually. Before upgrade, flights were smooth as glass. Has anyone else noticed this? Am going to to check it out in other planes to see if it does same thing. Thanks in advance John
February 17, 201412 yr John, "since I upgraded to V2" Just checking here: P3Dv2 or P3Dv2.1 Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
February 17, 201412 yr Author Oh, sorry. Got my upgrades confused. It was an upgrade from V2 to V2.1. Also, should have mentioned Im using Goflight panels to control autopilot, should that make any difference.
February 17, 201412 yr Moderator Fundamental question: are you absolutely sure that you are slightly below the glideslope before engaging the APP function? Default autopilots will not reliably capture and follow the glideslope if you are even slightly high... Fr. March 25, 201412 yr I'm seeing this too after upgrading to v2.1. In my case, I typically engage the autopilot after take-off. It'll frequently start a nose-dive back down to the ground, even though the proper altitude, heading, and speed are programmed into it.
March 25, 201412 yr Using 2.1 since release-- Dozens of G/S intercepts using the autopilot: I have noticed that often if you are in an A/P V/S descent, at G/S capture (from below), it won't always capture the G/S and continues the V/S rate previously set. Mine is a "default A/P" installed in a 3rd party aircraft, so I haven't waved any flags with P3D since I could never be sure if the aircraft had some other code in there-- but if others are having excursions, it might be worth a mention in their support forum.
March 25, 201412 yr Does this happen in the default P3D jet aircraft .. and the GA, like the Mooney? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
March 25, 201412 yr I just did a test .. this time using iFly737NG. No problems on departure ... no problems on the the arrival (APR) / ILS. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
