February 26, 201412 yr I just installed the demo version of X-Plane and like it well enough that I ordered the DVD's. At the rendering settings I'm using I get a drop from 45 to 30 fps when I enable TrackIR 5, which otherwise works fine. I've never had more than a fps or two impact from TrackIR in other games. I'm just running an I5-3570k 3.4 at 4.2 and a Gigabyte 7950 3gb at 1000/1250, 8 gigs of system ram, win7 64... Why would my frame rate crash so bad when TrackIR comes on? Too few cores? I'm lost as I wouldn't run X-Plane without TrackIr, but I sure hate that 33% hit, and 45 fps is noticeably nicer than 30... TIA, Steve
February 26, 201412 yr That is a big fps hit.. wow. I see a small fps impact, but have had some success using the affinity mask to assign Track IR onto lightly loaded core(s) off the main thread.
February 26, 201412 yr With Track IR turned off in the options of X-Plane and using pilot view plug in with Track IR support I do not get any frame loss. Trevor Golding
February 26, 201412 yr Very strange, I don't believe I get any frame loss with TIR5 using native or PV plugin support. Are you using the latest version of the TIR software? (5.2.2 I think)

That's the first I've heard of "Affinity Mask" being used with X-plane. Is that what is meant here, or is that referring to an FSX setup? Thanks, Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
February 26, 201412 yr Author TrackIR is version 5.2.200, X-Plane is version "10.25 Web Demo Download 64 bit." Could it be that it's a demo version of XP?
February 27, 201412 yr My mistake.. I should have suggested to try using the task manager to assign the T-IR process to an light use core using 'set affinity'.
February 28, 201412 yr My mistake.. I should have suggested to try using the task manager to assign the T-IR process to an light use core using 'set affinity'.Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. I hadn't thought about using the Task Manager option. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try... over the weekend when I have a couple of free nano-seconds Thanks again.
