AI Traffic Utility program available in the Avsim Lib

Featured Replies

Hi,

I came across this utility and it sounds promising. Here is it's basic description

The AICull.exe utility provides intelligent traffic density for Artificial Intelligence (AI) aircraft. The user
enters the ICAO(s) of the airports the user (typically) departs from and arrives at. AICull then removes AI
that is not departing from or arriving at these ICAO(s) in order to boost frame rate, but still maintain an
immersive AI experience for the user.

It also allows for a number of user supplied variables. check out the PDF when you download.

Let us know if you install it and provide a mini-review if you have time.

I have not yet had the time to install yet. Maybe in the doc there is a contact email to the author, or, it may say within the docs.

Sorry

It is fine. Still I have not noticed that you need payware fsuipc for that which I don't have now...

:(

Anyway - good finding

Yea, I think this utility uses Simconnect. Not sure if the freeware fsuipc allows for the use of Simconnect.

I have owned FSUIPC forever.

Just a heads up, the program is less effective for UT2, which I own.  What happens is, AICull deletes any AI not arriving at or departing from the monitored ICAO(s), but then about 30 seconds later UT2 re-injects the deleted AI traffic (probably according to UT2 timetables), then AICull immediately deletes the same AI that was deleted before.   This cycle repeat about every 30 seconds.  On the plus side, you typically won't notice this happening from your airplane (as the deleted/re-injected AI tends to be away from you).  You also get the same effective benefit (continuous traffic density where you need it).  On the negative side, and this could be a big one, if you're running high UT2 at high traffic density, you may encounter unsatisfactory stuttering each time the re-inject cycle repeats.

AICull works best for BGL-based traffic, like WOAI, which doesn't actively re-inject deleted AI.  I'm not sure about the other commercial traffic programs (e.g., MT2013/MTX 5.4), but my guess is they would be OK because UT2 is the only traffic program I'm aware of that actively injects traffic through simconnect.

I think it should work with no issues (see my post above), but I can't be sure because I don't own it.  If you need to buy FSUIPC, I would recommend waiting for first-hand feedback to make sure.  However, I do recommend FSUIPC for other reasons independent of my utility.

Hey Roland,

very nice idea. I hope it takes off and many see the benefit.
