March 1, 201412 yr Today's Aerocache was checked in my list, so I couldn't do it again. Darn! Instead, I did Steve's "Fill'er up" in the wilds of Alaska. Start at the Red Dog Zinc Mine. Here I am climbing out. Since it is open pit, this is probably not how the surrounding area really looks! It's probably some ecological disaster area. The good thing about open cockpit airplanes is the great view - no windows! The bad thing about open cockpit airplanes is no windows! So, freezing to death. A quick touch and go at Noatak strip. And my destination - Kotzebue. There does not seem to be an Aerocache at this pump, Steve. I thought it might be at the dirt strip just South of the airport, but no! So, I wandered around (in the Stearman) until I found the place. I don't think these pumps have 100 LL, Steve. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
March 1, 201412 yr Hey Luis, I did specify on the the submission that there was no 100 LL fuel to be found here but they did not include it in the description for the Aerocache. That old Continental R-670-5 would probably run fine on auto gas anyway. Really nicely detailed airport and town there don't ya think? Steve
March 1, 201412 yr Glad you got this one, Luis. I think this was one of Steve's best submissions. And I agree that this town is depicted very nicely in Flight. Thank you.
