I have had FSX installed many years on my system, but I have never adjusted properly staying mostly with FS2004. This time, assuming that P3D2.0 is still long-long way to go to reach a reliable shape and form, I decided to go ahead and make proper set-up for FSX.  First thing that badly surprised my was FPS effect that UTX has on the sim even with autogen at 0%.

 

Am I correct in my assuption that FTX Base+Vectors are comtemporary replacements of UTX/GEX, meaning ground textures, roads, night lighting etc, and if I purchase it, my FPS would improve drastically comparing with UTX/GEX combo?

There is something wrong with your setup. Look at my PC specs; yet UTX/GEX has negligible impact on my FPS. That being said, I don't fly at night; so if you are a night flyer you would be better served going the FTX Global route.

GEX will improve your FPS, UTX however does have some 'heavy' items, but they also give you the option of disabling them seperatly.... do some experimenting and see what you find

Yes, UTX night lighting is a killer even with minimal options activated.

FTX/Vector only plots major roads.. If you're looking for residential roads, You're out of luck... UTX plots all roads but only in the country package you purchase.
