Joystick wont stay calibrated in fs9

Featured Replies

My joystick a saitek av8r will not stay calibrated in fs9 but works ok in the Xplane 10 demo, I cant get it to calibrate right unless I unplug the joystick and restart the computer but the x axis always drifts to the side after flying for a while, some times it gets out of whack in less than 20 min and other times it will be ok for a few days. My saitek cessna proflight rudder pedals don't have any issues though they are a lot higher quality hardware, I am planning on getting a new yoke or joystick but I don't have the money now so I want to make this piece of junk survive a little longer so any suggestions?

so any suggestions?

No.   :(

From what you say you have a hardware issue with the Saitek AV8r stick ... not with the Operating System or with FS9.  You have done the 'usual' solution by unplugging / re-plugging the joystick to no permanent avail.  Regrettably sometimes things just don't work out the way we would like them to. Try eB.. for a REAL cheap solution (used?) or keyboard until you can afford better.

Hi,

is this a joystick connected to an USB port?

I had a similar issue using a joystick for gameport via an USB adapter. It lost its calibrations and button assignations again and again. I found out that I had a kind of multiple joystick entries in my fs9.cfg. I believe to remember that I solved this problem by building a new fs9.cfg and copying the new joystick entries to the old fs9.cfg. Of course I had to calibrate the joystick ine again after this.

I'm not sure if your problem has a similar cause, but why not check your fs9.cfg joystick entries...

You know how to let FS2004 build a new fs9.cfg and about its entries, don't you? Otherwise I would come back a little later, as I have "familiar duties" in the meantime.

Harald

My joystick started working perfectly again, but its inconsistent and it will probably go crazy again in the next few days. I may try the fs9 cfg thing Harald, and Appliance, a keyboard would be worse in my opinion, even when its off center I can still fly planes that don't have touchy control response, I guess that rules out all of my carenado aircraft lol.
