March 26, 201412 yr You could Update the default navdata in FSX. Then you can also use the GPS to fly procedures, you will have to enter them maually or import from an external flight planner. http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html You also have an option to add an FMC and gauges to any default aircraft. Its not FREE but it's a very good investment for using the default aircraft in an IFR enviroment. http://www.isgsim.com/
March 26, 201412 yr Hi Barry I watched the vid and just one question. He was using flight sim commander on that vid, and I don't have that flight plan. When I plan my flights in FSX, should I select high altitude airways in the FSX flight planner or use an online planner? Thanks. Yes you can just use the high altitude airways in the default planner, since you are just using default planes and default GPS/ATC that will work OK. An alternative that I think is better than what is shown in the video (simroutes.com is out of date) is to use simbrief.com as I already mentioned, generate the route and then download the FSX flight plan. Then just use the Free Flight screen to position your plane at the origin airport and put the plane at a gate position. Then go into the flight planner and load the downloaded flight plan. You can usually also use a route from flightaware in simbrief.com to get the route, if you want to fly the same route as a real-world flight. It doesn't matter that FSX doesn't have the waypoints because simbrief.com will generate them in your flight plan. You also have the option to purchase a code from navigraph.com to use updated navdata in simbrief.com. Barry Friedman
March 27, 201412 yr Author Oh cool! So I guess you sign up for simbrief right, and then the rest is free? That seems like a nice site. I think I'm gonna try it. Thanks again!
