unless anyone has any better ideas?

Have you tried doing a manual install, by downloading the driver package and running the exe?

No, I did it all via the GeForce Experience app. I shall give that a go instead.

Was there any message during the installation of the driver?

There was some kind of generic 'Unable to install driver' message and if I remember correctly next to each of the individual drivers (PhysX Driver, Graphics Driver etc) it said something like 'not selected'. Can't tell you the exact message as I'm at work and the machine is back at home I'm afraid.

There was also an update of the GeForce Experience tool, version 2 now. Maybe it helps?

I'll try that first then - install the new tool, try installing via that and if it doesn't work try downloading and installing outside of the app.

The new GeForce Experience now records in window mode for shadow play. I just recorded a 28 min flight 1080p and it was only 3.6gb. This is great because now I can get rid of dxtory and fraps
