March 5, 200521 yr Author If you want to save yourself printer paper and ink, you can call the local pilot shop and see if they have expired charts (Yes, they do expire. 56 days for the approach plates and about every 6 months on the sectionals.) Sometimes they don't always throw them in the trash. I got a rather large box full of expired charts at one point from our local pilot shop. They have the front covers removed and an "OBSOLETE" stamped on them near the ledgend, but work just fine.----------------------------------------------------------------John S. March 5, 200521 yr Hello everyone,I know this thread is getting a little low in the list, but I have one more excellent site for you. The FAA's NACO office allows anyone to download the latest version of every Terminal Procedure for the entire US for free. I think this is a little known website that I stumbled upon when doing some research at work on LPV approaches. The charts are PDF files and here is the link to the website:http://www.naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/online/d_tppThese charts are all current, and are updated on the regular schedule. Not a lot of shabbiness involved :-)Take care,-CJ Starr
March 6, 200521 yr Free current VFR sectionals, just download the .tif file of the charthttp://aviationtoolbox.org/raw_data/FAA/sectionals/current/
June 7, 200520 yr and if you have lots of bandwidth and want all the US sectional & TAC charts in one large package, they are here:http://zovirl.com/2005/maps/sectionals/I use FSBrowser (http://www.hifisim.com/downloads.htm) to look at them in-flight
June 7, 200520 yr Any idea what this is, I've never heard of a torrent file.zovirl-SectionalCharts_2005_06_05.torrentThis is the file you get when you download the sectionals and TACs from the link you gave above.

That's BitTorrent, which is a peer-to-peer file distribution program. It is really good for downloading large files because every computer downloading a file shares pieces of the with other computers trying to download the same file. This helps keep download speeds high. You'll need to get a bittorrent client. There is a simple one available at http://bittorent.com. I use the Azureus client myself, which is available at http://azureus.sourceforge.net/. Let me know if you need more help.

June 7, 200520 yr Anyone know where to get them for Europe (specially the Netherlands?). All those USA maps are fine and nice but pretty useless if you don't fly there... ;)
