February 7, 200521 yr I have a rather strange recent problem. When ever I try to start a flight in the UK the sim hangs up at about the 9% "Loading Terrain" when attempting to start the flight. I have tried to disable some UK scenery (VFR - 4 volumes) but that makes no difference.I am able to start a flight elsewhere and fly to the UK and all seems well, the hang up is only when starting a flight in the UK - has anyone else experienced anything quite like this?. If so what is the cure :)All suggestions welcome - this is driving me nuts.Dave
February 7, 200521 yr Have you asked this question in thn Visual Flight forums on http://www.visualflight.co.uk/? Gerry Howard
February 7, 200521 yr FS tends to load terrain *mesh* at this point (8-10%). Do you have the VFR Terrain installed? Any other mesh? -
February 8, 200521 yr >FS tends to load terrain *mesh* at this point (8-10%). Do you>have the VFR Terrain installed? Any other mesh?Yes I do have the VFR Terrain Mesh installed.... as for other UK mesh I am really not too sure about this one. Thanks for the interest.
February 8, 200521 yr I suppose you know to uncheck Extended Terrain Texturesin Settings/Display, when starting up in UK.Peter Sydney Australia
February 8, 200521 yr Dave,I had a similar problem several months ago, and after much testing discovered that the problem was nothing to do with UK2000 scenery, but was a bad BGL or AFCAD file in some scenery I has recently installed for Sweden.Have you recently installed some other scenery? Try disabling different ones in the scenery.cfg and testing FS.Graeme Graeme Butler
February 9, 200521 yr Thanks guys - I seem to remember yonks ago a utility for checking .bgl files? I may have been dreaming though :)I have added plenty of scenery files recently and the utility if it exists would be a great help in finding any rougue .bgl files.I have a utility for checking the AFCAD files but think that only spots duplications - will have a hunt round but if anyone knows of the.bgl utility if they can psot a link it would be a great help, or just confirm it exists. Oh I did not post this elsewhere (VFR Forum) thought I'd see if anyone here had similar troubles first, also it may not be a VFR scenery problem, or so I thought.Dave
February 9, 200521 yr Hi Dave,I too had this problem when using VFR scenery, turns out it was caused by some excellent scenery for western France by Marc Guitteny and Pascal Dumat. If have installed the packages for St. Nazaire and Noirmoutier, you can find patches here http://perso.wanadoo.fr/p.dumat/htm/fs2004.htm.HTHRobin.

Thanks Robin,I did recently load up some scenery from this same web site for the French Alps - Altiports and the LAGO mesh 7 covering this area. Now my French language will take me back a few years but will take a look through this site and see if anything could be amiss with what I have placed in the simulator from there - thanks. :)Looks like I may have a rougue afcad file as when I try to run a utility to scan for duplicate AFCAD files it just runs on forever... now comes the challenge to find out which one may be the root cause of the problem... I guess I should start with the UK ones? - seems logical.Dave
February 9, 200521 yr G'Day Draky!Dave, how areya? Blimey, havn't heard from you for a while! Anyway, if it'll help you at all:I think your problem certainly seems to lie elsewhere, and not with the VFR stuff. I have all of the VFR scenery and terrain from Visual Flight, and have never had any problems with it, and I also DON'T have any of the addon scenery mentioned in other replies, so the chances are good that you have a rougue bgl somewhere. Good luck with finding it!BestGrahame (EDHL)Edited once for speling

Looks from my recent posts as though I am asking or help rather than helping others these days... too many addons I guess.Dave
