April 18, 201412 yr with an error box advising me that there is an error with windows.dll and then it shut down No such thing as a windows.dll so think you meant an error with Windows and must be shutdown. It's very difficult to give you advice based solely on the info provided. You need to download and run AppCrashView and copy and paste the latest crash results here. The AVSIM CTD Guide, located under Hot Spots to the right of this forum, provides a link to the AppCrashView program. The guide also has some excellent suggestions for troubleshooting (investigating) for the cause of your crash. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 19, 201412 yr The window.dll in the main FSX folder is used by FSX to take advantage of the capabilities of DirectX9. When using DirectX9, FSX calls on the window.dll module's functions to automatically minimize, maximize or restore the FSX window. For instance, the function 'WindowInit' is called to whether the window is currently minimized or maximized. The 'WindowFree' function can set the focus on the window and check whether the window has current focus. The dll has many more functions. I would first scan your system for corrupted files - http://pcsupport.about.com/b/2009/05/25/sfc-scannow-repairs-windows-files-the-easy-way.htm. Make sure you run Windows Update to make sure Windows has the latest updates.Run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool - Click on the Start button and click on the Run command (also located under Accessories). Type dxdiag and then hit the enter key. Check each page and make sure there are no errors. If you have Beta video card drivers installed, install the latest WHQL drivers. If you have the latest WHQL video card drivers installed, reinstall them.Hope this helps! Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 20, 201412 yr hi firehawk44 thanks for that link above i had a few CTD and running that command prompt found a few corrupt files hopefully thats sorted it Hopefully it helped! Do not know how files get corrupted but they do. Off topic a little but I wanted to give you a friendly reminder of our new signature policy. We are not allowing specs or flight sim stuff in the signature anymore and are asking everyone to please use your profile. More information can be found in my pinned topic - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/436632-new-signature-rules/ or in the signature rules located under the Forum tab above.
