April 20, 201412 yr Hi, Do anyone know that what is the approach and landing speed and flaps for the A330? I currently approach at 200-220 knots flaps set to 1-2. My nose pitches up on approach before glideslope and i think the problem is on the speed or flaps. Thank you for your replies.
April 20, 201412 yr Commercial Member Correct speed all depends on the aircraft's weight. approach should be flown at Green Dot (Clean speed) so around 220 knots, Clean speed is flaps up. For landing you fly the calculated Vapp , using Config full or flaps 3. What addon are you using? I don't think any realistic A330's exist for FSX Rob Prest
April 20, 201412 yr Administrators I would try an appraoch speed more in the neighborhood of 180 knots. April 20, 201412 yr A number of addon planes pitch up - wrongly - when catching the G/S. So it's not necessarily your fault. You can find approach patterns, advising of flaps and speeds on various sites on the internet. smartcockpit.com, for example. What happened to AVSIM
April 20, 201412 yr Author I use the Thomas Ruth A330-200/300, but how much flaps should i use around 180-220knots without the nose pitching up?
April 20, 201412 yr Commercial Member I use the Thomas Ruth A330-200/300, but how much flaps should i use around 180-220knots without the nose pitching up? since you are flying a more basic addon - The slower you fly the higher the nose will pitch up. If you use a higher flap setting the nose will pitch down. If you where using a more complex addon the approach would be more simple. You enter the weights into the MCDU and it will tell you your clean speed, approach speed and landing speed. You would also see the correct speeds to deploy each flap setting on your Primary flight display. One last thing, the nose will pitch up, this is completely normal unless you are seeing a very high and unusual nose. angle. If the the aircraft is pitching up unusually high then you are either well above the max landing weight, the center of gravity is incorrect (or both) Rob Prest
