April 27, 201412 yr Author Interesting given that my joystick is only about 6 weeks old. Nonetheless I will give all these helpful hints a try and hopefully I'll be flying trouble free. Andy Solaini
April 27, 201412 yr Wouldn't you get a full thrust if you push your hardware throttles full forward regardless of TOGA? I just set it to carrots at N1 arc after TOGA is engaged and before 80kt. You shouldn't need to manually set the hardware throttles precisely to the N1 limit if you use TOGA, which engages the autothrottle. Mike

Mike I agree, but I cannot afford powered throttle quadrant. On the other side, if I disable AT override, I cannot adjust power in HOLD mode. It's a compromise. Hi, Lj, I don't understand the problem. I have a very simple joystick w/ throttle lever (two actually -- an old one and a really old one) and maxing out the throttle after pressing TOGA but before throttle goes into HOLD works OK for me. I keep my throttle set to override always, which would include during the pre-80 knot phase of takeoff. Possibly I am getting a momentary spike above the selected takeoff thrust setting, will need to check, but it should then go back to the selected power setting. Mike
