February 16, 200521 yr Hi All,I downloaded the Columbia River Gorge scenery enhancement, but am plagued with CTD's, I have tracked it down to one of the US Columbia River Gorge sceneryscenery files, in particular one of the s_CRG_*.bgl's.Am I alone in this problem?Dan.
February 16, 200521 yr Commercial Member Hi Dan,sorry to hear about those crashes. There's been a few reports about CTDs with my files. It seems that some of the existing add-ons for the area - scenery or AFCAD files - create those conflicts but we haven't found the exact cause yet.I should have mentioned this in the docs: since my file completely replace that bit of the FS world it's a good idea to initially disable any add-on that you have active in the coverage area. Most of the smaller scenery files will have to be updated anyway (and the designers at Hovercontrol have started already). Here's a nother thread that discusses compatibility issues and CTDs: http://www.hovercontrol.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ik...=ST;f=1;t=10430Good luck with the bug hunt. Please let us know when you find the cause!Cheers, Holger P.S.: don't click on the link but copy & paste the entire code into your browser
February 16, 200521 yr Holger -Wow! I thought your BC/Alberta efforts were amazing, but with the Gorge scenery you have outdone yourself. Congratulations and many thanks for your outstanding contributions to our hobby!John
February 17, 200521 yr I was wondering how it is with fsgenesis roads. I also have NW sceneries KPDX and the free mesh that covers the USA. Is there any conflicts. John K
February 17, 200521 yr Hello,I did get a (for me rare) CTD checking out Holgers fantastic scenery, but I have no other sceneries in that particular area. Further north I have "WA North Cascades scenery" and "NorthCascasdesAirstrips" installed, but I don't think that's causing it. Probably one of the BGL's.Best regards,Michael
February 17, 200521 yr Holger, no CTD problems here. This is great scenery. I am loving every flight over it. Thanks so much, best regards.
February 17, 200521 yr I had no problems as well. I was using the default mesh for the area prior to installing the new package. I was using USA Roads, which I did not disable or alter in any way. I only had a few add-on scenery packages in the area, none of which contained AFCAD files. I placed the new files in a directory that was NOT in the Addon Scenery folder. (I never recommend people dropping new scenery file packages in here). I then added the new packages to the sim using the standard "Settings" File Library options on the startup screen for FS9. I added them, and arranged their list order as recommended by Holger in his readme file. I have flown in several seasons with the new package, and it overlays USA Roads very well (they must both be quite accurate, because they tend to be right on top of each other). I do have the FS9.1 patch. I hope this information helps anyone that is trying to uncover a problem. A member at our site was having CTDs, and then solved them after mentioning that he had a few rogue AFCAD files floating around. Implying that there was a conflict of some sort with another AFCAD file. Unfortunately, he did not include information as to the exact nature of his change that ended the CTDs.Holger, I think if you find what Murdock did specifically to fix his CTDs you might get at the heart of the problem.I hope every one gets a chance to use this package, it is quite a work of art. I could fly for hours in the valleys around Mt. Hood, and never cover the same location twice. Definitely hats off Holger.Jordan Moore
February 17, 200521 yr Hi Holger,No prob's here either. But I have spent the evening installing just your addons only. February 18, 200521 yr Commercial Member Hi all,I just posted a small patch for cr_gorge.zip in this forum thread: http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=35440 . It fixes autogen problems at Portland-Troutdale, KTTD.Actuall, Eddy, you do have a small problem with your installation ;-) See that double line crossing the Columbia on the right side of your screenshot? That indicates to me that the three Scenery Library entries are not quite correct: "US Columbia River Gorge landclass" needs to be *above* "US Columbia River Gorge scenery" (because it includes exclude files that remove those stray shorelines) and the "ZZZ_Corrected_AFCAD_Elevations" entry needs to be near the bottom of the Library, just below "Africa".Thanks again for all the nice feedback :-)Cheers, Holger
February 18, 200521 yr Thanks for that Holger,Will alter as instructed.Once again, thanks for a great addon !!RegardsEd
