February 22, 200521 yr Recently I am getting, in addition to the conventional engine noises, a VERY loud wind whilstling noise that I can`t get rid of. I`ve checked all the usual options but no luck. Its driving me mad and would be more than grateful if anyone can offer a solutionCheersGeorge (rafvr)
February 22, 200521 yr Hi George,If you have Active Camera installed you are getting the environmental noise from that. Look into your AC options to turn it off.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
February 22, 200521 yr I Can't stop my self.Have you tried Beano? This is straight from their website "Beano helps prevent gas naturally before it starts."Again I am sorry but I could not help it.:-xxrotflmao ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
February 22, 200521 yr George in the real world many planes (especially the ones with engines in the rear of the aircraft) your going to hear wind noise over the engines. In an MD-80 or DC9 you hardly hear the engines in the cockpit at 32,000ft. February 22, 200521 yr Are you sure the windows are shut? :-)I've had a few annoying sounds that I've actually gone in and deleted the sound file. A less drastic option is to bring it up in Windows Sound Recorder and adjust the volume down. The sound is pretty easy to find, just bring up the sound directory (either in the aircraft folder or the main sound folder) and click on each one in turn until you hear the one you want. Good luck!billg
February 22, 200521 yr in addition to manually reducing volume using sound recorder, you can:1. Turn down 'environment' volume in fs9 sound options (this affects other volumes though - like touchdown sounds etc, and for ALL aircraft)2. edit the wind sound entry in the sound.cfg - reduce maximum volume.I usually opt for good ol' sound recorder though - quick and effective for some truly over the top wind sound levels. I agree however that fs engine sounds, especially for large jets, tend to be highly unrealistically loud from the cockpit.regards,Mark3.2HT/1GIG/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
February 23, 200521 yr Author Is this the same ***** annoying wind noise that keeps going even when you pause the sim?!If so please tell me how to get rid - it is extremely irritating!(It doesnt appear to be ActiveCamera as I tried switching it OFF in the AC drop down in fs and its still there - could it be activesky? I now suspect it is linked with certain aircraft and I`m gonna check each one by turn.I`ll post the resultsGeorge (rafvr)
February 23, 200521 yr Author That would be great if you can George. Cant wait to find a way of shutting it up!

February 23, 200521 yr Hi George,Switching OFF AC2004 sounds is a good solution suggested by Jim (AS Support)Of course doing so disables all AC2004 sounds.Or rename wind sounds only :Go in your FS2004 directory - ActiveCamera - SoundRename Wind 4-9.wav and Wind 10-X.wav to Wind 4-9.bak and Wind 10-X.bak regards,
February 24, 200521 yr Author OK thanks Jim sounds like Active Camera is the culprit despite setting the sounds to OFF in the setup menu the noise is still there will go and edit those wav files tonight. Thanks for the info!RegardsAdam
