CTD'S Extremely Annoying!

Recommended Posts

I've had a lot of trouble over the last week with various ctd's. I've had gdiplus.dll, g2d.dll, one MVS80.dll and a few more (they may not be typed accurately because i'm not at my compluter atm they are just as close as I can remember).

I have uninstalled all of my addons one by one and no difference.

I've repaired dll's, no difference.

I've formatted and then completely reinstalled Windows 7, no differnce.

I have uninstalled my nvidia gforce 760's drivers and reinstalled them, no diffenrence.

I bought an £85 ssd a few weeks ago purely for this to make it run smoother.

This is happening almost evwry flight and i'll i've been doing is quick circuits around the airports in my pmdg737/777. It crashes at random stages, takeoff, cruiseing and (mostly) approach.

Any help with this would be hugely appreciated because all I want to do is fly it!

Thanks in advance,

Andy

FSUIPC the free version fixed my gd*.dll related crashes.. and the uiautomationcore.dll fix worked for the others.. I never 'crash' in FSX anymore..

I believe the gd*.dll ones are related to not finding certain scenery objects, and FSUIPC just makes the program continue as opposed of crashing due to that situation.

I've had a lot of trouble over the last week with various ctd's

Here's what the AVSIM CTD Guide, located to the right of this forum under Hot Spots, says about the G2D error:

G2D.dll - The g2d.dll is indicated as the faulting module in the crash report. This module handles plain text messages, like the frame rate counter and those other plain text messages you see periodically while running FSX and the plain text words in the FSX Menu, like the words Options, View, etc. There may be something corrupted in your dll.xml which loads menu items. It has been fixed by rebuilding the FSX.cfg (deleting or renaming the FSX.cfg and then restarting FSX). Some others have fixed this problem by uninstalling/reinstalling the video card drivers or going back to a previous version.

The gdiplus.dll interacts with your drivers on behalf of FSX. Perhaps one or more of your drivers are out of date for your hardware (i.e., video card, HDD, SSD, USB, chipset, etc.). You can download and run a program off the Internet that scans you system for outdated drivers. I use a program called Driver Genius and Driver Scanner. There are several. The software is freeware but, if it finds outdated drivers, it will offer to update them all if you register the product for a small annual fee. If you are familiar with the Internet and Google, you can search for the outdated drivers and install them yourself.

The msvcr80.dll is part of Microsoft Visual C++2005. You must have the 32 bit version (x86) of this program installed. The AVSIM CTD Guide provides links to the most recent versions. For FSX, the 2005 w/SP1 is required. Microsoft Visuals are used by developers to make sure their product is installed correctly. Hopefully you installed FSX by using the following guide: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.

As far as I know, the fsuipc.dll will trap the G3D.dll (not G2D.dll) and prevent FSX from crashing.

The AVSIM CTD Guide provides some excellent tools and suggestions for troubleshooting your problem(s) yourself as no one has the same system or installation. What works for one may not work for others. You need to investigate.

Hope this helps.
