June 6, 201411 yr ...I was 6 years old. Many of you, fellow simmers of my generation, are maybe close relatives of those who landed in Normandy this June 6, 1944. Today my thoughts are going to those soldiers who gave their lives during that day and during the many following months in order to free us from H#tler's n@zi domination. Thank you and rest in peace. Jean-Jacques Mods, if possible, please leave this post here. Due to my wife's handicap I have limited time to spend on Avsim (otherwise I would not be able to fly  ) and this is the forum where I meet most of my fellow simmers. June 6, 201411 yr 07 to everyone who was there that day fighting for their countries, their families, their brothers, and their lives. My nearest serving relative was preparing to land on Saipan in the Pacific, and my parents' parents were still in diapers, but I've been able to learn a lot about what transpired that day, and It's an honor knowing I've lived on the same planet as those brave men. From playing the bagpipes in front of machine gunners, to just taking that step off the ramp of a boat into the jaws of Hell, everyone did their part. I hope that if we remember their sacrifice and are able to act, there will never be such a preventable cataclysm. Respect. I hope I will be able to continue everyone's great tradition of service in our armed forces.
June 6, 201411 yr It never ceases to amaze me just how brave these men were. Thank goodness they fought on and succeeded in shortening the War. This generation is leaving us at a rapid pace now. We can never forget them.
June 6, 201411 yr Author It never ceases to amaze me just how brave these men were And some of them were very young. The day before yesterday I saw on TV an interview of a survivor ranger who was 14 when he enrolled, cheating on his age, and 16 when he landed in Normandy.
