June 14, 201411 yr I've been playing around with the custom camera function and I've saved a set for one of my aircrafts, but of course now I want to use them and I cant find the control function to cycle through those cameras. How can I assign a controllers, or key from my keyboard to cycle through those cameras? Cheers! Maarten
June 15, 201411 yr Author After having another look at the manual and the menus in P3D I got only more confused about the names that are used to adress to the functions and because of this I think I have to make another effort to explain my problem in more detail, so here it comes. Concerning the camera views we're talking about 3 different aspects, namely: 1) Camera Categories (by default switched between with 'S' and 'shift-S') 2) Cameras (by default switched between with 'A' and 'shift-A') 3) Views The custom camera function can create new 'cameras', but can also create new 'views', which are different positions of the curent camera. Those 'views' can be created by changing a camera position, then right-click on the window, go to 'Custom Camera' and 'Save Location'. You can do this multiple times, to create more views for the same camera, which appear in a list underneeth the 'Save Location'-function in the menu. The beautiful thing about those views is, when switching between them by mouse from the menu, you see a smooth transition between those views like you would with EZDOK. This is what I'm trying to do, but not by mouse, but in the same way we switch between cameras with A/shift-A. Looking at the Options>Settings>Controls-menu, in the 'Event Catagory' 'Views', from the drop-down menu on the 'Buttons and Keys'-page, I see that the default commands 'A' and 'shift-A' would cycle through 'VIEWS' in the curent category. However, this is not the case! Those commands, as we know, cycle through the 'CAMERAS' What I want to do is setup some keys or controllers to cycle through the custom created 'VIEWS'. According to the 'Buttons and Keys'-page, the commands that are by default setup to do this, would be 'A' and 'shift-A', but like we all know, those commands switch between cameras and not between views as is claimed. Can someone please help me to figure out how to setup some controllers or keys to cycle through the 'VIEWS' from the curent 'camera'? Cheers! Maarten
June 16, 201411 yr I have been looking for information on this feature of P3d ,and have found your post very informative, I have asked a few time,s on various forums for any information with no luck it seemed as if nobody was using this feature .I looked at this hopefully as a new improved Free EZDOK replacment, maybe a post on LM would be helpful, some one there designed the feature for a reason ,thanks for sharing your information Peter
June 17, 201411 yr Author Indeed, it's wierd to notice that, especially since EZDOK doesnt provide us with a proper update for P3D, so few people are actually using the custom camera function as replacement for EZDOK. I did post my question on the P3D forums as well, but from experience I can tell that LM themselves arent likely to respond to it. To be honest, I think it's kinda sad to see that beyond the first couple of pages on their forum, you find an average of 5 posts per page that have 0 replies and I've come across lots of posts where other users did an attempt to help, but for which a real fix for the problem was never provided. Another user is trying to help me and his efforts are most appreciated, but unfortunally, so far he wasnt able to give me a real solution for the problem... If a proper solution may come up, I'll make sure I posts it here. Cheers! Maarten
January 14, 201610 yr Any joy with this? bieng able to zoom from panel to panel makes flying the VR cockpit much much easier.
January 15, 201610 yr Custom cameras are translation and rotation (XYZPBH) offsets applied to an existing camera. If you save the flight, they get stored in the flight file. If you only have a few aircraft that you want to modify, then getting the translation and rotation data from the flight file and adding new cameras to the aircraft.cfg file is pretty simple and I can elaborate on doing this if you want. You can then just cycle through your new cameras using the A key as usual. You could probably also define them as Custom category rather than Cockpit, which would mean they would be in their own group in the View menu. The other options are a program to create the new aircraft.cfg cameras if you had many to do, or a program that works with a list of aircraft and the XYZPBH values, and applies these offsets using SimConnect, which essentially replicates how P3D currently manages them and how EZDOK custom cameras will work. Such an external program just has to hijack some key stroke or P3D action to know when to move back and forth through the available offsets.

If I correctly understand what you are looking for, have you tried the OPUS FSI program. I think it will do the trick for you.
