Virtual Cockpit Views and Movement - What software/Hardware to use
Download FaceTrackNoIR and have a go with that if you don't want to wear anything. It's pretty good for a) free (if you have a webcam) and b ) not having to wear anything, and gives you an idea of what head tracking is about. You can cheaply make your own tracker hat or clip if you have a few practical skills rather than buying TrackIR.

Birds In The Sim
There were a few people a bit critical about the affect on frame rate of Wildlife+. I think this may have mainly been on older PC's, but irrespective, I think I've got a fix which I'll put in place once the current project I'm working on is done, so v3 of Wildlife+ shouldn't be too far away.

Aerosoft Antarctica
Are you saying you tried it and it didn't work for you, or is this just a "does it work in v3?" question? I have just pointed a new install of P3D v3.3.2 to the Antartcia X install in the old v2.4 folder, and it seems to be working fine, but I wouldn't say I went to great lengths to test it. Software Request
FS Recorder is a very slick piece of software, and I suspect anyone who thinks they can re-create it in a short space of time will find otherwise...... I'd like to suggest a read of where the developer got to with LM, and why he didn't publish a P3D compatible version. http://www.fs-recorder.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=740

Need to Create a Script
I can probably give you a hand if you're happy with a Text Menu displaying on the screen that would load an 1- In air, 2- Lined up for take off, 3- Lined up for Landing Saved Flights depending which option you selected. It could re-show the menu after a crash or paused for X minutes. Starting P3D on Windows boot you just do by adding it to the startup items.

FaceTrackNoir Question
The PS3 Eye for Track Hat is highly likely to have had a filter added to block visible light, which would explain why the image is so dark. It is unlikely you will have success using a camera set up for IR Head Tracking with the Face Recognition that needs visible light and vice versa. If your camera is working as you say it is, I suggest you turn on your Hat Track IR LED's, verify they show up, then you can work on fine tuning the camera in the Point Tracker settings.

FaceTrackNoir Question
I think source of UDP is for FaceTrackNoIR to receive 6DOF streamed from another application. Try changing source to PointTracker for a IR clip or FaceAPI for facial recognition to use the camera.

Multi Monitor P3D setup
richbarry replied to jamang1999's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcJamang1999 mentioned all 3 monitors were different. If they can be run at the same resolution, Matrix TripleHead2Go would be an option, but if the vertical resolution of 1 cannot match the others, I imagine that would shoot down the Matrox option.

Adjust Eye View
Like "eyepoint" suggests, you are moving your head, not the panel, so Y +ve = head moves up (and the panel relative to your head moves down)

Wildlife+ autogen
jfmitch - A complete user manual is in the original download along with required Simobjects and cfg files at http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=wildlife%20v2&CatID=root&Go=Search The Dropbox download is just an alternative exe if the one in the original download doesn't work for you. I do seem to be getting the message from a few sources that default settings are a bit dense so will reduce these back in the next round of changes.

Wildlife+ autogen
As there have been a reasonable of downloads of Wildlife+, could a few of the P3D users please provide some feedback on whether it is installing and functioning correctly in P3D. I have so far only had feedback from FSX users so don't know how P3D users are going. The exe was compiled with the FSX SP1 Simconnect DLL to try and get compatibility across all FSX & P3D with one exe, but in some cases this doesn't seem to be working as intended, and I did subsequently compile a FSX SP2 DLL version for people having problems. This is available at https://www.dropbox.com/s/2iir5nyz7s5ezfu/Wildlife%2B.exe?dl=0 I'm also happy to provide an exe using the P3D DLL if necessary, but the grand plan is to figure out how to get the 'one size fits all' exe working in the manner I originally intended. Some feedback from FSX users has been that they prefer to lower the "Number of Objects Created" sliders back lower than my defaults to reduce FPS impact. If FPS is worrying you, then one thing I would suggest in addition to lower slider settings is that if you are not flying near the sea, then deactivate the Sea objects so that they don't get spawned in the first place. I appreciate any feedback as to how it's going for you. Cheers

stereoscopic 3D in P3D (questions)
I've got a few things to try out that may smooth it out a bit. It seems to be a bit of lag sometimes in synching the right eye for the continual movements with head tracking, something that isn't really noticeable unless using head tracking. The left eye XZ position in the cockpit is locked, but as you turn your head, I have to keep calculating and moving the right eye to a new XZ. To be honest, I didn't spend so much time checking the head tracking as I don't use it so often. I'm trying to finish off another application, so not too sure which one will get done first. Will let you know when something new ready to try on the 3D head tracking. Cheers Richard

stereoscopic 3D in P3D (questions)
In regards to pegruder's problems with the exe, I'm guessing you just downloaded the dropbox exe file. The program also needs some cfg files etc, so you need to search Avsim Library or Simviation for P3D Native 3D and download the complete v2 package. The install info is in the manual. You can replace the v2 exe with the v2.1 you got from dropbox if you use head tracking. Regards Richard

stereoscopic 3D in P3D (questions)
Hello Andy Good to hear you're getting some use out of P3D Native 3D. Despite the time invested in writing it I get very little feedback. It anyone's reading this who has an SBS or OverUnder 3D display, you can get 3D up and running with P3D Native 3D from Avsim library or Simviation. Anyway onto the head tracking. First, I assume you have head tracking working in normal 2D P3D without my 3D program running. It sounds in your email like you do. The main thing to understand with getting it working with the 3D application is the event sequence in the automated set up of the 3D. 1. Set the (main) left eye view to the view you want. 2. Open the right eye view. 3. Adjust the right view relative to the left to get the 3D perspective. 4. Link the views so that they move in unison. The critical thing is that nothing moves either view until step 4 is complete, so Step 0 = Pause Head Tracking Step 5 = Resume Head Tracking TrackIR, FaceTrackNoIR, OpenTrack all have the ability to define HotKeys for Pause/Resume, Centre etc. You obviously want the Hotkey to be some combination that is not defined within your P3D controls, and should perhaps check this by setting a P3D action to that Hotkey, and it will tell you if you are already using that combination and where. Clear the keys from the action if it does set them so that you can use it for controlling your Head Tracking instead. Set up the Pause/Resume Hotkey in your profiles in TrackIR. Set up the same Hotkey in the Head Tracking section of P3D Native 3D. The grey button to the right of "Tracker Pause Hotkey" in P3D Native 3D will hopefully toggle Pause/Resume in TrackIR. This appears to be working for me in TrackIR, although I cannot test it fully as I only have the software. Despite trying all sorts of methods, I cannot make it function with OpenTrack/FaceTrackNoIR. If the Tracker Pause Hotkey button toggles your head tracking program, that's great, as if you then turn Head Tracking On in P3D Native 3D using the option buttons on the program window or the Add On menu item in P3D, then when you set up/change a 3D view, it should automatically pause the head tracking, carry out the view change and resume the tracking. If the Hotkey in P3D Native 3D is not managing to pause/resume your head tracking, leave the Head Tracking option off, and manually press your Pause hotkey combination before setting up/changing a 3D view, then unpause tracking with your hotkeys. I did uncover a head tracking bug whilst having another go at getting OpenTrack running, so an updated exe is available at https://www.dropbox.com/s/m8uu12etsvgp8di/P3DNative3D.zip?dl=0 One annoyance to be aware of is that for the head tracking data to get through to P3D, it appears the left eye view must be selected. It should be that Step 4 above, it stops on left view, but if you are having issues, try clicking on the left view. Unfortunately there are currently no programmatic means I can find of selecting a particular view other than forcing a mouse click on it. Your problem above may simply be that you need to click on the left view. Hopefully the exe update and the Hotkeys may iron that out a bit. The other tip I have is to lock the VR headsets tick box on, make a new txt file in the same directory as the exe file, and call it nocompression.txt Let me know how the Head Tracking works out. Cheers Richard

Cycling custom cameras
Custom cameras are translation and rotation (XYZPBH) offsets applied to an existing camera. If you save the flight, they get stored in the flight file. If you only have a few aircraft that you want to modify, then getting the translation and rotation data from the flight file and adding new cameras to the aircraft.cfg file is pretty simple and I can elaborate on doing this if you want. You can then just cycle through your new cameras using the A key as usual. You could probably also define them as Custom category rather than Cockpit, which would mean they would be in their own group in the View menu. The other options are a program to create the new aircraft.cfg cameras if you had many to do, or a program that works with a list of aircraft and the XYZPBH values, and applies these offsets using SimConnect, which essentially replicates how P3D currently manages them and how EZDOK custom cameras will work. Such an external program just has to hijack some key stroke or P3D action to know when to move back and forth through the available offsets.

External Spot and Locked Spot Camera annoyances
Holding down Spacebar and moving the mouse gives you full movement around a sphere centred on the aircraft, always looking in at the aircraft. Shift+O to toggle on or off if you don't want to hold spacebar. If you're talking about looking away from the aircraft, no, you can't do that on Spot views, you'd have to use an external aircraft camera.

Is the momentum effect of the VC camera doing this? Try disabling it if present in the relevant camera definition entries in your aircraft.cfg file.

stereoscopic 3D in P3D (questions)
Here is a current version of P3D Native 3D. More stable than the initial one I released, but probably still has some flaws to be ironed out. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hc13evomokn8hxz/P3DNative3D%20Release%201.2%20Beta.zip?dl=0 For SBS 3D for a phone, you don't want sideways compression, unlike the SBS for a 3D TV/Projector. In this case, select 3D SBS on the 3D Setup page, then bottom left hand corner of the Utilities page, tick VR Headsets, No 3D Compression. If you add an empty txt file called Nocompression.txt to the application directory, then this No Compression option will stay ticked. I'm not auto saving it to avoid other users activating it by mistake and not realising why compression is not working. As I'm still working on the program, feedback is welcome. Some things I can't change unless Lockheed Martin make some mods to some Simconnect functions. I have asked, but aren't holding my breath for action. Cheers Richard

FSX / P3D Bird Autogen
The bird models themselves aren't animated, but they have been given direction and velocity relative to the ground, so even hovering a chopper, they will be moving past you. Even without flapping, the effect is fairly good. You should be able to add animated (flapping) bird models if you have them. Hopefully a 3D modeller might do this for everyone. I don't have those skills quite yet. Cheers

Earth Simulations Freeware "Free-Birds"
Does anyone have a copy of the Earth Simulations freeware "Free Birds"? I'm experimenting with an app to inject birds into the sky and would like a look at how Free Birds is set up. Unfortunately ES has closed down, so can no longer DL it off their web site The link below is what a day of messing about has come up with so far. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2m9tzzftl9uzswn/Birds.jpg?dl=0 Anyone who can help with the freeware, please get in touch.
