"Cannot connect to FSX" error after install Orbx latest libraries

Featured Replies

  • Commercial Member

you got the simconnect trace going and both .ddls set up OK? try AM=0 in case there's some kind of thread blocking. try without orbx loaded.

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

Yes, SimConnect trace is all good and shows DLL's as loaded.  Removed AM and disabled Orbx ... still same error.

What's frustrating is that everything else is working fine ... all other 3rd party Aircraft, even ASN on a remote computer and FSCommander on a remote computer ... all connecting and work.  Just anything A2A doesn't work.

with all the object flow dlls disabled you still get the a2a problem? anything in exe.xml?

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

Yes, GoFlight stuff in the EXE.XML ... but I disabled that also, made no difference.

Here is quick video I made of the problem, notice the beacon ... with the default A36 all is good (30 fps), after a long load time for the A2A C-172 you can see the beacon rotate and then the entire sim stops for many seconds, then starts again for a few seconds, then stops again for many seconds -- and no I'm not pausing the sim -- in fact when it stops ALL INPUT is disabled, I can't even hit Esc ... I have to wait for it to start again and then quickly hit Esc.

I'm on the Pro Plus Developer License so my code path is different from the other version but I doubt that is relevant (but who knows).

I'm baffled, I really truly am stumped.  I hate to see $200 worth of A2A product not be used because I can't solve this ... I'm hoping Lewis (A2A) will toss me a bone on what is triggering AccuFeel message ... but that'll mean asking the developer to do a code search of that exact message and let me know possible triggers for the message.  Not sure they'll wanna spend the time to do that for just me alone.

Rob

Maybe, if A2A are unable to find a cure, they would let you roll back to the older version of the c172. Just a thought.

Jazz

I'm the only one having this issue, so it's probably something specific to my setup and not A2A's issue, I'm just trying to figure out what happened and why.  Any glues they could give me would be great.

Rob, is it possibly a situation with user permissions changed somehow? Can you check to see if the P3D folder has a Users Group with Write permissions.

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

Hey All,

I found the solution.

It was a SimConnect issue, but it was NOT related to installing the FSX SimConnect client (which I had tried without success).  I use a SimConnect.XML and a SimConnect.CFG (as I have other computers connected to my main P3D computer).  In those files I have specific IP address entry that points to my main P3D PC.

Example:

  <SimConnect.Comm>

    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

    <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol>

    <Scope>global</Scope>

    <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>

    <Address>192.168.1.111</Address>

    <Port>4506</Port>

    <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize>

    <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle>

  </SimConnect.Comm>

and SimConnect.cfg

[simConnect]

Protocol=IPv4

Address=192.168.1.111

Port=4506

MaxReceiveSize=4096

DisableNagle=No

Well as it happens my Router and PC are configured for dynamic IP assignment, for whatever reason the router decided my main PC should be 192.168.1.112.  So SimConnect is now pointing at 192.168.1.111 ... not good.  SimConnect was loading fine (hence all the logs looked good) but it was configured wrong.  This also explains why I was so baffled because I hadn't really "changed" anything on my PC and then suddenly anything that uses SimConnect (A2A products) was no longer working.

This is a first big "oops" for me, but my sincere apologies for wasting everyone's time.  But I suppose this thread might be beneficial for anyone else that may suddenly run into really strange behavior for products that use SimConnnect (most do these days) for what might seem no apparent reason.

Now, off I go to configure my router to ONLY assign .112 to my main P3D PC.

Sorry again, but thank you for all the help and suggestions ... much appreciated.

Cheers, Rob.

Turns out you had a DHCP issue. My first thought was that it was locked out by internet security, or something along those lines, since the error did say cannot connect. Good work Rob.

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

It's amazing the havoc one tiny automatic change can do to one's simulator ... I can't say it was a DHCP issue, it was just doing it's job and assigning my PC an IP within a specified range of IPs ... it's just my fault for not configuring my router to lock/reserve my main P3D PC to a specific IP address so that my SimConnect setting will always be correct.

I'm using a fairly new LinkSys router and it can be configured with a DHCP reserve list ... so I've now added my flight sim PC's to that list and no more changing IPs.

Big lesson learned for me.

Cheers, Rob.

P3D 2.x uses managed SimConnect so SimConnect.xml and SimConnect.cfg

But good suggestion, will try it ...

seems the way I suggested to get the log works fine:

Not at all Rob; thanking you for keeping everyone posted on all things P3D. :smile:

  • 1 month later...

Hi Rob and SteveW!

Please told me what i do wrong.

When I connected my PC`s with router I have a next error:

EMT don`t want load DLL

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_w7u7F4T3YDU2NUaFBUNmFBMDQ/edit?usp=sharing

And A2A Feel (I think)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_w7u7F4T3YDci0zbEVjMV9GUnM/edit?usp=sharing

when P3Dv23 start in add-on menu i see only FSUIPC...

Paavo (dev of EMT) send me a link on this topic and say that is a solution, but i can`t understand what i should to do...

I change my IP`s to "locked" (i don`t know how to say this in english)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_w7u7F4T3YDenBoM0VLVFp6MW8/edit?usp=sharing

Then edit my simconnect.xml and .cfg for correct new IP address, but my problem still exist :(

Can you help me please?

Thanks, Oleg.
