July 4, 201411 yr Author Well, recently I have found this: http://www.aquariumbcn.com/en/experiences-with-sharks/diving-with-sharks/ I am certified PADI diver... However, I have mixed feelings about this We swam with sharks, Bill and I, when in L.A, over at Zuma Beach. Oh..and not by choice, lol. Sand sharks mostly, and one encounter from afar, with a Great White. It was at the breaker line...and we were diving for Abalone inside the breaker line, to BBQ on the beach later...and both he and I headed for land, and quickly so. We didn't wish to feed him/her... I have a crescent shape bite mark still on my right upper thigh to this day, because of a Sand Shark. They come and lay on the sand bottom, still, in the surf zone, and sleep, by having their mouths open..and let the movement of the water aerate them through their gills.. I was 14 years old..and walking out of the surf at waist level water...when I accidentally stepped upon one..and it reared up, and in escaping, bit me on the thigh. To this day, I still have a raised brown crescent scar line.Have fun...but don't become dinner... :( I'll tell ya what...there sure is a benefit to diving in fresh water...unless you happen to be near Bull Sharks...they have been found 600 miles up the Mississippi, and have dined on a few people within the that river, over the years... http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/07/0719_050719_bullsharks_2.html http://www.in-fisherman.com/2012/07/16/sharks-in-illinois/ http://www.sharksavers.org/en/education/biology/how-bull-sharks-survive-in-fresh-water/
