what did I do this time?

I have been trying to put in my add ons into prepar3d v 2.2. and so far it was going good. I installed SBGR by tropicalsim and I installed it into a seperate folder in the prepar3d v 2.2 add on folder so I don't mess up my system if it doesn't work. I can take it out easier if it's only in that one place. Well guess what, it messed up my system because when the startup screen comes on it shows me the scenery loading and then crash to desktop.

But here is the thing, I immediately removed the file from the add on folder and restart the computer. I make sure it's uninstalled in the add/delete control panel just to double check. When I load up prepar3d v 2.2 I get the scenery loading screen and then crash to desktop again. How is it loading the scenery that isn't there anymore and why does it still crash to desktop if the file doesn't exist?

I am thinking that there is a file buried somewhere in the deep vastness of prepar3d v 2.2 and I need to delete that file but I may be wrong. I would appreciate any help or insight because I have lots more add ons to try and this is going to be a problem again I fear.

thank you

One possibility might be an entry in dll.xml or exe.xml which didn't get removed during de-installation. As a test, try renaming/temporarily moving both files and see if the issues remain.

Kind regards, Michael

well it gets worse now. I finally got prepar3d v 2.2 working again and I tried to add my fly tampa sceneries. Big mistake because after "installing" then my game crashes to desktop again. I took out the flytampa folders in the add ons folder for prepar3d v 2.2 but those flytampa entries are not found in the control panel of the computer. I don't know why prepar3d v 2.2 is acting like this but I understand that I am trying to use something made for a different sim. I would hope that there is an easy way to take them out if they cause trouble but something gets messed up way back in the prepar3d files. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me because right now I am staring at a black screen.

Are you using the Estonia migration tool if not go get it - its a must and will help with all of these problems - I have not had one problem and I have a bunch of stuff working in P3D which is rock solid - even some installers claiming to be P3D ready I need to use this tool - one of the best addons I ever bought - get it

No, I swore not to use it because it complicates things. I have been just downloading add ons to a separate folder then adding it into prepar3d one at a time. That way if there is a problem, I can just take out the folder and it should be the way it was, but this time it didn't work. I trusted flytampa so when it asked for the prepar3d main folder I selected mine. I have even created a restore point before I installed these new sceneries and even that didn't work. I don't know what to do and frustration is starting to settle in. I take more precautions for this sim and things still don't work. Crash to desktop after loading scenery screen.

Complicates things - NO - it makes things uncomplicated - it install things correctly - you missed the part about P3D installers may not actually work correctly - I have 4 flytampa airports installed all work great and I did make sure I downloaded the P3D versions and any patch's needed from Their forums - restores never work

Imho you are better off not using that tool and ONLY installing P3D compatible addons. But that's just my opinion. ^_^
