July 30, 201411 yr Since installing the new Medicine Hat, Alberta Global airport from pack 16...I decided to try the airport out..and took off, grabbing a highway out of town, towards the West at 3,500 AGL. I am seeing totally (new to me...) prairie scrub and textures. Wow...does Global every do a great job of the feeling of the West in that area. You get to think that there is not truly too much difference in Global, because it is not a 'fat' region. So wrong....and today just once more, proved it to me. If you have not flown in this area...try it out. Done very nicely....and now heading out towards the Rockies...eventually... To see what I am seeing...you need all your graphic scenery sliders, to full right.
July 30, 201411 yr Hi Ses....I just (some would say finally) bought Global yesterday. Installed last night. I guess you could say goodbye to GEX. I have UTX for Vector data. I have all the Orbx regions and fly in those extensively and usually pass on going to other places except Norway because I have the suite of great freeware available which greatly enhances the area. I have not had enough time to explore the new Orbxland outside of Regions and this morning I was thinking of hitting a couple spots in Canada, like northern Ontario and the Prairies.\ Tried Norway quickly - I seem to have a big issue with waves on lakes and rivers, everything has lots of waves and it looks dumb, it appears that I have wide shorelines that are linked to waves, however, the land textures are great, just like the PNW region, so I like it. I will be pursuing this over at Orbx forums. Straight Global mode, no hybrid. Tried Germany quickly - looks great, no issues so far. Straight Global mode, no hybrid. Tried Southern California, just south of Fresno, where NCA ends to see what the transition looks like from the Region to the Global. The demarcation is obvious but the general texture seem to work OK and are reasonable representation. I will give Medicine Hat (which I know very well in real life) a test. Hey Brian, enjoy your new purchase. Yeah...flying around Medicine Hat produced new ground textures that I had not seen anywhere else, so far. I think I have run into about four or five distinct texture groups so far...not sure..but I think that's the count. Great product! BTW, the waves wouldn't have anything to do with global, and the wave animation towards shore...can be removed by deletion of the file that renders it. You'd have to look for it.

July 31, 201411 yr Enjoy! I highly recommend FTX: Vector as well. Makes a HUGE difference. The rabbit hole is deep and expensive at Orbx. Worth every penny, and they update often, many are major updates, not just tweaks. Aaron Thacker
