Right, thanks very much Martin

I have done exactly what you suggested. Whatever I do seems to have little or no effect on the frame rate in VC mode. So for the time being I am going to live with it. Even if I increase the aircraft to maximum and add full scenery I still get roughly the same result, so I intend to continue as it is for now.

I have now decided that it really is time to update my computer. So when I can, I am seriouly considering going for a new machine, configured to maximise the performance of FSX. I am thinking of talking to Wired2Fire and going for somthing like their Sim X1000 which is just about within my budget. I do not really have the expertise to cope with building my own machine.

If you have any suggestions on this I would be very grateful.

Cheers, Dennis

"using the top hat switch on the yoke, the view changes in fairly large jumps."

Is the hat switch is set up to view e.g. right/left or pan.

Do you use FSUIPC for setting up Hat switch panning?

Which version of Windows do you have?

OK fine, Martin.

I think that is my next step, so I will do just that.

I just want to thank all of you who have done your best to help me. I am fairly convinced now that I am never going to get it right until I sort out a new pc. I'm now getting problems with fsX crashing, and the MCP not working properly! (think its trying to tell me something?).

My current pc is now 9 years old.

Cheers, anyway!
