September 4, 201411 yr Author Right, thanks very much Martin I have done exactly what you suggested. Whatever I do seems to have little or no effect on the frame rate in VC mode. So for the time being I am going to live with it. Even if I increase the aircraft to maximum and add full scenery I still get roughly the same result, so I intend to continue as it is for now. I have now decided that it really is time to update my computer. So when I can, I am seriouly considering going for a new machine, configured to maximise the performance of FSX. I am thinking of talking to Wired2Fire and going for somthing like their Sim X1000 which is just about within my budget. I do not really have the expertise to cope with building my own machine. If you have any suggestions on this I would be very grateful. Cheers, Dennis
September 5, 201411 yr I would ask for advice in the hardware forum, the lads will help you. I don't really keep myself up to speed in regard to the latest kit, unless I'm about to build. http://forum.avsim.net/forum/326-mobo-ram-cpus-other-hardware/
September 5, 201411 yr "using the top hat switch on the yoke, the view changes in fairly large jumps." Is the hat switch is set up to view e.g. right/left or pan. Do you use FSUIPC for setting up Hat switch panning? Which version of Windows do you have? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
September 5, 201411 yr Author OK fine, Martin. I think that is my next step, so I will do just that. I just want to thank all of you who have done your best to help me. I am fairly convinced now that I am never going to get it right until I sort out a new pc. I'm now getting problems with fsX crashing, and the MCP not working properly! (think its trying to tell me something?). My current pc is now 9 years old. Cheers, anyway! Dennis
