September 7, 201411 yr Never had one single issue with OOMs long before even on a slower system before I built a new one O/c'd to 4.2 GHz, rock solid stable Prime95 soak test, flying the PMDG T7. Then, following another post elsewhere about ASN, and encouragements to try it or buy it, ran a trial version, and ever since then, as it is a 7day Trail, late last night 2 hours into a T7 flight TBPB-KJFK, I get the attached image warning, followed by an OOM message. Before I completely ditch ASN and have nothing more to do with it, anyone else have major OOM issues with the PMDG T& and ASN? Rick Almeida

You need to install the latest version of ASN for FSX (it's a beta). I have never seen this error message before and it appears to be a problem with FSX and not with ASN. You should download and run AppCrashView and post the latest crash here for analysis. If ASN crashes, you will know it was ASN as it has special crash messages. AVSIM also hosts an unofficial ActiveSky forum which is visited by the developers on occasion but, again, I do not believe this is an ASN issue. Make sure your main FSX folder is being shared with everyone and the ASN folder is also shared by everyone (right click the folders and select Properties, then open the Share Tab). September 7, 201411 yr Author Hi Jim Many thanks for that. But what intrigues me, if as you allude that this an FSX issue, how come, never ever had a single OOM or Runtime collapse like this despite flying every PMDG/LDS/et al aircraft and REX Essentials with a much slower lesser spec'd system, and now with a 4.2GHz 16Gb RAM system, I get this? I do understand that OOMs has nothing to do with hardware system RAM. But the minute I install the Trial Version ASN, 2 flights using it, I get this. Downloading AppCrashView right now. Rick Almeida
September 7, 201411 yr I don't know Rick. FSX is subject to do anything strange at any time. As I have stated often, the biggest problem we have today with FSX is the fast and powerful systems like yours. Everyone thinks they can increase the fsx sliders and display driver settings as they really have a fast system. It just causes more grief and less enjoyment in many cases. FSX cannot use that 16GB's of memory. Doubt it can use much above 6GB's. VAS is restricted by the system and 32 bit applications so not much help there either. Your crash could have been one of those quirks that happen occasionally in any application. Have you reproduced it again? Or is this a one-time event? If you look at this logically (as Spock would say), if there were a problem with ASN, I would expect more people to get this error and right now we are not seeing that. If you had a BufferPools setting and installed a memory intensive app like ASN, maybe that "tweak" took FSX down. There's just too many things involved and right now there are very few FSX crashes that are common with everyone and with the same solution. September 7, 201411 yr Author Hi Jim Thanks for that response. As usual, you always make a heap of sense. Kudos to you. How's the golf coming along? Anywhere near replacing Tiger in the Ryder Cup Team? Yes, I did run a Kostas tweak, e.g BufferPools, etc,etc Am right in the middle of same aorport, same aircarft, loading Jeppesen real-time weather from within FSX( I know, it is not a patch of weather engines like ASN, REX, etc) to re-test that flight that went down earlier. Will feedback later. Regards Rick Rick Almeida
September 7, 201411 yr Yes, I did run a Kostas tweak, e.g BufferPools, etc,etc This tweak has caused more problems. Perhaps it wasn't employed correctly I don't know. NickN was the first who brought up this tweak several years ago and he has refined it at this link - http://www.simforums.com/forums/drivers-nv-inspector-fsxcfg-complete-guide_topic36586.html (see half way down, Tuning BufferPools). Word Not Allowed has posted a very good guide too on his website. AVSIM has a FSX Configuration Guide that talks about this tweak and does not recommend employment. I personally have tried it (Kostas) and didn't like it as I had some anomalies. Same with NickN's recommendations. If you look at many post in this forum, you will see many have fixed their crashes by removing the BufferPool tweak. It just may not have been employed correctly in the config. We do not know. Golf is going well except I have to fight rush hour traffic to get to the course for the first tee. I'm surprised as I have actually improved this year! Thanks for your kind comments. I'll take them whenever and wherever I can get them! Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 8, 201411 yr Author Hi Jim As I had posted previously, ran teh same flight same aircraft et but no ASN, and not surprsingly, did not have a single OOM issue, or that Runtime error. Flight was smooth all teh way. Noted re:Word Not Allowed's tweak. WIll amend. Glad to hear that you have improved your handicap. Stick at it. Regards Rick Almeida
September 8, 201411 yr Glad everything is working for you again Rick! Let's hope it continues to work well. ASN is a good weather program!
