USB Port Power Surge

Featured Replies

I am going totally mental....

Every flight I undertake with either FSX or P3D ends the same way.....I get an error message that "USB Port Hub has exceeded power limits of its port"....and it is either my USB Headset or my Saitek Yoke.

I was using my Saitek Yoke as a powered Hub (it has its own power supply) and I had the Saitek Rudder pedals as well as the Saitek TQ plugged into the Yoke. I then tried plugging everything directly into the back of the PC but the problem persists.

I am convinced I have a drivers problem. This started happening when I upgraded my Motherboard to an Asus Z97-A.

I have done the usual troubleshooting, changed the ports to which the devices are plugged in, uninstalled the USB drivers and reinstalled, nothing works.

Last night I uninstalled the USB 3.0 drivers and will test again soon but it is frustrating, I cannot complete a single flight. I get the error message, which renders my Yoke and my Headset useless, and if I continue the flight, the SIM crashes....

Has anybody encountered a similar issue before?

Thanks in advance

It's so funny you should mention this, as I have been having the same problem. Can't really trace it to any piece of hardware, and it doesn't seem to affect my flying.

At first I thought perhaps the powered usb bar I plug my sim stuff into was going bad, so I replaced it; however, I still get it, although very intermittently. I am for the most part able to ignore it.

I do click on the little message that appears, and press "reset," and it just goes down the line of "unknown devices" and then goes away.

Would also love to know what could be causing it.

I had this error flag come up once awhile ago and cannot for the life of me recall how I fixed it. I'll check up on my tech logs and if I find the answer before somebody beats me to it, will post it here.

Thanks guys, would not mind just the error, but my sim crashes about 5 minutes later.....it effectively disables my Yoke, I can't even reset it.

Odd thing is....it does not happen when I use DCS, only in FSX or P3D....go figure.
