Windows updates still pending

Featured Replies

Yesterday I updated some important updates for Windows 7 64-bit, but when the computer asked me to restart after updating, the configuring updates function while starting up kept running at 23%. I just left it running overnight, hoping it would be finished in the morning, only to find this process got stuck (the blue activity circle wasnt moving anymore).

Only advise I could find was to shut down the computer and restart again, to let Windows finish the configuration, but this didnt happen and checking my updates, several updates are still pending.

The help files said to just restart the computer again to let Windows finish configuring, but the computer just starts up without doing anything to these pending files.

Another advise I found told me to run the 'Check for updates' again, but doing this, no updates are found.

Can anyone help me to either get the pending updates configured, or get them removed so I can start the update process again?

Cheers!

Maarten

did you check "view updates" maybe  it updated  them and  there are no more updates  to be done?

If you want to remove some updates click on the installed updates option and remove

I checked the 'view update history' page and that is where it says these updates are pending.

I can indeed remove/uninstall other installed updates from the 'installed updates' page, but since the updates I'm having problems with are pending to install, they do not show up in that list, so on that page there is no possibility to remove them.

I'm far from a Windows expert, so I'm not sure about any other options to either finish the pending installations, or remove the pending installations to download and install them again...

Cheers!

Your Windows update is not terminated for obvious reasons, have you controlled your antivirus program ?

I dont have any anti-virus software installed.

And indeed there is no obvious reason that caused the problems. My system has been working fine and after the restart it got stuck. I didnt get any error message, or cant find any report about anything gone wrong...

Just a restart after updating, that got stuck on configuring updates...

Cheers!

Maybe try using System Restore to get you back to a good place, pre-update  - and try again?

Eugene

Before system restoration : remove the pending installations and reboot your system please

From my FSX days (NickN's FSX bible)(and even before that from using pro audio recording software on Windows systems) I was taught to turn off system restore, and I still do that, so restoring to an earlier restore point not an option...

Removing those pending installations is indeed what I want to do. If I get that done, I should be able to check for updates to find these updates and install them again. What I get stuck on is how to do it. ;)

Cheers!

Wait please a while with fresh Windows updates because some updates made difficulties on some systems.

Ah ok, that indeed sounds like a probable cause for what's happened.

I just did a couple of flights and I dont get the idea it has affected my system's performance in any way. So there are no major problems that prevent me from flying.

Thanks for the info, Saim. :)

Cheers!

Maarten

Thank you.
