geforce 640

Featured Replies

Hi,

I currently have a geforce 260 GTX in my computer. I bought a GT 640 because it is DX11 compatible so i can try Prepar3d. I didn't want to spend too much money on it because in a year or so i want to buy a new computer. I was wondering if it's strong enough to play prepar3d and if FSX will keep the performance I have with the 260 GTX? And also, will it run X-plane 10 better than my 260?  Should I install it or take it back to the store? I hope someone can give me advice on this.

It is depending on your computer and peripherical components and configuration at last !

Thanks, I will return it to the store and postpone my prepar3d experience

Lemme stir the puddin' a bit:  Bought at EVGA 640 GT on sale last year at Microcenter and it works fine for me.

AMD Athlon X2 245 at 2.9 GHZ, 4 GB RAM  and P3D 2.2 (20+ fps) and FSX Accel (30+ fps), Opus FSX and UTII for A.I., FS Genesis, REX Direct.

Mind you, some sliders are midrange with both sims, but, I do get fluid play and have no problems.

I would return it too, not a worthy upgrade; more of a sideways move.

Well, the only advantage it would have for me is to be able to play p3d, but I guess with the 640 it would look very much like fsx
