Unable to fly the 777. CTDs

Featured Replies

Ever since I Installed the SP1 and the 777-300 I am unable to use the 777.

I just uninstalled everything...and re installed the  following

1) The original 777-200 file that I had.

2) the SP1

3) the 777-300

Every time I am at an airport and I fly out and leave the viscinity of the airport, I get kicked out of FSX.

Hmmm..

PS: No these are not VAS errors.

Hi, Manny,

Did you delete the pre-SP1 panel states?  Are you possibly using one (or your own saved panel state derived from pre-SP1)?  Also, if I remember correctly there was a freeze caused by some flight plan discontinuities in the FMC.  Fixed either with SP1 or SP1B.  But if you are not using SP1B you ought to install it anyway.

SP1B

Hi Mike

SP1B? Is that the patch via the Operations Center?

After I installed the old 777-200 install (the one I got thje first day)

I Installed this

PMDG_777_200LRF_6036_SP1

Then the 777-300 (which I downloaded today since the link had not expired).

I then Installed the update using the Ops center.

Thats it.

OK.. this time I am trying with a new flight without loading an old saved flight..lets see. This time I was able to leave the vicenity of the aiport

Service Pack 1B is an update from PMDG's webiste, it can be installed via OPS Center as well.

You can download SP1B directly from the PMDG web site downloads page here:

http://precisionmanuals.com/pages/downloads/updates.html

This is different from the -300ER where you need to log onto your account and dowload from there.

You don't really need the OC to install SP1B, just run the downloaded SP1B file.  You might need the OC to reinstall the liveries, but that's all.

Once you are done the correct version number is 1.10.6061 for both.

HOWEVER, you probably should start over just to avoid confusion.  Since it looks like you downloaded the 300ER in the last few days, it is a more recent version than the SP1 you installed.  You installed in effect the SP1B version of the 300ER while you only had SP1 of the 200LR installed.  The 300ER file may look the same but it was updated around the same time as SP1B came out.  Since the 200LR and 300ER share many files, it might be best to start all over: uninstall the whole 777, install original RTM by running it, delete FSX/PMDG/777/panelstates files (these  are pre-SP1), run the 200ER SP1B installation file, then run the 300ER installation file you recently downloaded.

Hope this was helpful rather than confusing!

It's impossible to tell without extensive testing whether SP1B 200LR overwrites a file from the SP1B 300ER where the SP1B 300ER should be overwriting a file installed by the SP1B 200LR.  Probably not, but you never know...

Glad it's working out OK so far!

Hi, Manny,

You might want to take a look at the first entry in this thread.  It was written for SP1 but should be useful for SP1B.

But bear in mind that if you delete the 777 folders in SimObjects/Airplanes you will lose liveries that you didn't get from PMDG.

One thing you should not do with any PMDG aircraft is to reload it on top of itself. This is known to cause problems - crashes, lock ups or other unstable behavior. If you have completed a flight, and want to switch liveries (for example), it's best to exit, then restart FSX, then load the aircraft you want to use.

Yep this would  cause some issues, although when I did  it,  I got  a pop up message warning  to restart fsx , first time I noticed  this wonder if  this  is another thing  that was added by pmdg?

Thank you everyone. I have been flying the 777/300 without any issues.. I may have to redo some of the non PMDG liveries since I did not take the backup prior to my uninstall.. np.. Minor thing to do.

Edited to add: Since I had my old livery Ptp files, I simply added all of them one by one..easy peazy! :)
