September 15, 201411 yr Just a quick question for someone please. Am considering buying. I would like to be able to download the latest weather and then save it to my HD for later use. I would then like to turn off automatic updates of the weather. Is this possible, and if so, how. Many thanks John
September 15, 201411 yr Commercial Member Assuming you're talking about ASN you can use Live mode to get the current weather and then save it. From the screen below you just do "Load weather file" and select one of your previously saved .wx files and that automatically takes you out of live weather mode and into manual mode where the updates are suppressed. My preference is for Historical weather/force to sim time where all you do is set up a flight at whatever date/time you want in the sim, then ASN detects that and fetches the appropriate weather to match. I suggest you do the 7-day trial, you just install it and on the first run it'll ask you for a keycode, there will be a link on that dialog that'll open a page at hifi where you can request a trial keycode. It'll show up in an email 10 seconds later so you just paste it into ASN and you can try it fully functional for 7 days. BTW my commercial member banner has nothing to do with ASN or HiFi, I'm just a happy ASN customer like anyone else.
September 15, 201411 yr Author Many thanks Jim Jim (or anyone) Last question. How do you know when all of the weather for the world has downloaded before you save it? I tried the demo, but have now run out of time. Will probably buy later this week. Thanks again anyone. John

John You'll know when the download is complete by looking at the status bar at the bottom of the ASN GUI (see Jim's screenshot above in this thread)...the "Current Activity" parameter will change from "Downloading weather" (I think) to "Idle".
