How Can I Make FSX More "Realistic?"

Featured Replies

Hello! This is my first forum here on Avsim. I would like to start off by saying I already have Rex 4.0, Pmdg 737 6/7/8/900 and aerosoft airbus x. I really am looking for a product that will enhance the look of the buildings and scenery (mountains etc.) I also am aware of getting airport scenery packs, but j want an overall enhancer to my ground scenery. Thanks

You need to ask this in the FSX forum...this forum is for scenery developers.

Photoreal looks best from up high.  Megascenery probably has the most.  No buildings there, though.  Orbx has plenty of buildings and trees but doesn't look as good up high.  Flightbeam, FlyTampa and FSDreamteam are probably the best US airports.  Aerosoft has a ton of Europe airports.  Again, Orbx has a number of air carrier airports in Australia.

This is not a "general" solution but since  Gregg has brought up photoreal I think it is at last worht mentioning: I agree with Gregg, photoreal does indeed look great from higher altitudes. And while he is most likely correct on MegaScenery, I'd like to point out a freeware alternative for certain US states, particularly along the West Coast: BlueSkyScenery, they offer very high quality photoreal scenery, along with a mesh, AFCAD files so that the airports match the photoreal background, and some even have autogen, I believe.

Anyway, since it's freeware, you might want to download one of their releases or another, jsut to see if you like the general idea of photoreal, because there's basically two groups of simmers - one can't stand photoreal, the others can't live without it b)
