Float Plane Drift?

Featured Replies

I really only fly amphibians for sea plane applications. I can move on dry land, so this is not a biggie, but I am curious.

At least some of the time, at docks, or particularly under a partial hanger my bird drifts away with the current or wind. Is there a virtual command of any kind to secure to a dock when available. I tried setting the brake thinking that might serve the purpose, but sometimes the aircraft still drifts.

Thanks:

It would be nice to have something like "Dropable Object=anchor".  This might take some

further investigation.

*  Looked around at different threads here and at Flightsim.com.  Everyone

said that they will drift until they hit something, except for 1 guy who thinks that

when the engine is off they don't go anywhere.  "Yeah, right Jim!"

The only way I know of is to hit the "P" command (Pause). It's a pain, I know because you lose your sounds (if there are any), etc. but if there's any sort of wind at all, that's the only way I know of to keep from driving through the dock or drifting out to sea. Maybe someone else knows of a way, in which case I'd be interested as well.

Slew mode will stop the drift and let time keep passing by.

Well, I have found possibly one solution. I have not really tested this under all conditions yet, Unfortunately, this is specific to only one choice in aircraft, although there may be others. I have not checked out all the other applicable birds yet.

With Stephen Grant's Beavers, pressing the "/" Key ties the aircraft down. Silly as it sounds, it does the same thing with the anchors in the water. I don't know for sure that it holds yet under all conditions. I am willing to bet that it will though, because it insets protection for the floats against the dock.

Happy flying:

Kewl!! Thanks - will give it a try!

Another one; I'm pretty sure the A2A Cub with Accusim lets you 'tie' down the aircraft so that it doesn't float away.  If I recall, it also has a 'paddle' option that lets you move around in the water without starting the plane.
