FSX Fatal Error crash - Windows 7

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I keep experiencing FSX "Fatal Errors" using Windows 7.  I have spent many hours looking through the internet for fixes but nothing seems to resolve the issue. I have downloaded and installed both FSUIPC4 and the UIAtomationCore.dll but this does not help the situation.

I have been using FSX for many years and have just invested in a new top spec PC for my simming.  Here are my PC Specs:

Chillblast Fusion Nebula Haswell

Intel Core i7 4790K Haswell 4.0GHz (Over clocked up to 4.4GHz)

Asus Z97-A Motherboard - Haswell CPU only

16GB Corsair/Crucial PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory

Nvidia GTX 780 3GB Graphics card

250GB SSD

2Tb SSHD

Corsair Hydro H80i CPU Cooler

Window 7 Home premium 64 bit O/S

Norton Internet Security

My FSX settings were initially set to MAX but I have now brought them back down from "Ultra High" to "High".  The following add-ons are also being used:

Orbx FTX Global

FTX Global Vector

FTX Global Open LC Europe

FTX EU England

Active Sky Network for Weather

FlusiFix-2006

I have the current drivers for my graphics card and I have checked all my software for viruses etc.  I do have some downloaded freeware aircraft which have worked well in the past.  Could FlusiFix be causing a problem? I also fly on Fscloud and sometimes when I join, FSX Fatal errors and crashes.

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated as the constant crashing either at the start of the flight or after a period of time is driving me insane!

Many thanks

Ian (Ian65 FS Cloud)

Hi Ian,

You're describing the same problems I encountered after building an identical setup.

So a few questions :

At what point and in which module does FSX crash ?

Do you have any hardware (yoke, rudder, throttle) connected?

Have you read and followed the guidance in the AVSIM CTD Guide located to the right of this forum under Hot Spots? FSX will not run with all settings at max w/o running into occasional problems like you are encountering now.

Hi Jim thanks for the info. I download your guide but cant open it! When I do I just get gibberish ?

and Martin it crashes at any point really. When I initiate FScloud and/or flying at different times.

. I download your guide but cant open it! When I do I just get gibberish ?

Make sure ActiveX filtering is turned off. When ActiveX filtering is turned off, it allows videos and other stuff to run on websites (which is an annoyance) but believe it is needed to allow an .pdf document to open in your browser.

I just tried it with ActiveX filtering on and off and I was successful both times opening the document so do not know what is wrong with your system setup.

Hi Jim

I have now re-installed a clean copy of FSX and all of my FTX scenery files. I removed all addon aircraft and FLUXIFIX 2006.

To date it seems to be holding up with very few CTD occurring.

Thanks for your kelp :)

I removed all addon aircraft and FLUXIFIX 2006.

Hopefully Fluxifix 2006 did not cause your problems. That's a neat utility albeit a bit dated. I have version 5 installed.
