Featured Replies

Hi,I was wondering if the Lago_md80_140_patch.exe fixed the problems with the plane, has anyone found this, or is it still something to keep away fromthanks

Hi, not to be short or rude, but if you do a search, you will definately find the answer.Jeff

Don't go by anyone's word unless they've purchased this add-on and applied the patches... :-boom Steve the patched MadDog is actually decent in that the second patch corrected many of the issues found in the initial release. I would recommend this aircraft at this point over any other MD-80 package out there. The VC is nice, decent FDE, a solid FMC, a nice 2D panel, and great sounds (although I added gear wind noise to the panel.cfg). I don't care for Lago's support but this is by no means an add-on to stay away from. My only problems with the Lago MadDog at this point is the lack of decent night lighting in the VC. I also don't like the fact that Lago chose a dated Delta livery (that could have been better done by the way) instead of the latest version. There are two aircraft included in this package, a VC model and a non-VC JetCity version. Both aircraft fly very well I have to admit...Steve we finally have a decent MadDog in the community now, I don't care what others might say. Wish I could say the same for the 717. The latest patch made a substantial difference in this product although there's more work to be done; it's hands down better than anything else we have out there right now (if your looking to venture outside the confines of the 2D panel arena)... :-roll

The MDMax looks good but it does not have a FMC yet. Jeff

Can you give me a link please??? Does MDMax version have a VC because that was my point above? If your not a 2D panel fan, the Lago MadDog is the best MD-80 out there (and that's not a bad thing considering the Lago product is actually decent). :-roll

Hi All,Thanks for the comments,Dillon, seeing as you seem to be the MD Fan, can you give me any clues as to why I'm getting an error every time I try to load the MD into FS9,I start my default flight, a saved flight with everything running etc, then go to select the MD from the menu, I see the VC and no VC model, it doesen't seem to matter which one I select I get the same error each time relating to the Gau file for the plane, the message is > FS9 was unable etc etc File: Gauges../aircraft/LAGO_MADDOG/Panel/MADDOG.GAUany ideas as to what to do here Dillon,I have the patch from the site, I ran this straight after the main install etc, but it still keeps doing this,I did find a .GAU file in one of the panel folders for the VC model, but not in the NO VC model.thanks,

I started up my default flight (Cessna) at the default airport (KSEA) then selected a new aircraft and selected the MD80 and it works great. No crash. Must be something wrong with the saved default flight you have. The maddog.gau is in the VC model panel file and none in the NO VC file. Appears to be correctly installed. Have you tried selecting the aircraft from the Create a Flight screen instead of starting up your default flight and then making the selection? For some reason it doesn't like your default flight and default aircraft selection first. Hope this helps.Jim

I have both the MD-MAX and the Lago Maddog. I would recommend the Lago Maddog very seriously .. with the latest patch, IMHO, we finally have an MD-8x in our hanger with functional FMS and great extra Jet City Aircraft liveries if you want. I was a great fan of the Maddog 2000 and am very happy to have it back. The MD-Max is also a fine piece of software ... and I certainly defer to Andreas' regarding it ... However .. for all of its detail etc, it is still a DC-9-80 without FMS (I fly it with Alain Capt's ACS-GPS) and one lonely livery at the moment. It has lots of detail, but so does the Lago offering. You must beware though, that using the MD-Max with addon software, especially FSNav for example, is very dangerous ... even using FSNav as a moving map ONLY. Other addons such as AS4 and RC3 seem to work, but I have only completed one flight where FS ends normally, i.e. not hanging, sometimes requiring a reboot. ... I believe the makers (the guys or guy that did the original Maddog 2000 did lots of custom coding which is not very friendly with common addons) see the MD-MAX as a training tool and PS-13 like sim ... i.e., if you want your brakes to overheat then you can do this on the MD-Max. Could be the PS-13 of MD-80s but not yet. Don't misunderstand me here, I like the MD-Max but find as much satisfaction with Stellan's Magnificent DC-9 .. If you want to fly a well done MD-80 which WORKS with your addons, then Lago is the one for you.My opinion of course ... AND I own both products.Cheers,Paul BenoitKSAN

Steve, Jim has suggested everything I would have suggested. It looks like there's something wrong with your saved default flight that's causing the problem. You may want to try a reinstall of the MadDog to see if that solves the problem. Lago just released another patch (1.40) that addresses many issues reported. I'm waiting for that current Delta livery and some decent night lighting for the VC. Give a reinstall a try Steve and see what happens. Try what Jim suggested above as well. I often find that unless others are reporting the same problem I have, troubleshooting for my own specific problems usually leads to a solution. Plus it helps me get to know my setup better... :-) Once you get the MadDog up and running your going to really like this add-on...

well guy's, heres the latest, and to be honest I can't seem to get the lago forum page to load either, well, I un-installed the patch and md, then re-installed the md, all seemed to go fine, fs built a new scebery index,(whats that all about) that it didn't do before, so I was quite hopefull, now then, I tried the md and all was well, so I went into the cockpit and had a good look around etc, I liked what I saw etc,I then decided to install the 1.40 Patch for it, now this is where it gets tricky, after installing it I got that error message again that I posted in the beginning, and after having a look in my main FS9 folder at the bottom I saw the Lago Maddog MD and below that was a Maddog MD patch 1.30 ?anyway,I did another re-install after re-booting etc, I haven't put the patch back in yet and was having a look at the FMC when I had FS9 close on me with the error being reported as "maddog .gauge.dll" as the culprit.this is very strange indeed,I might just give up on this, but thanks to all for trying anyway.

What's available now is far superior to what Lago has produced. While Lago's product still suffers severe problems even after the "final patch", the MDMax MD-80 is nearly bug free! And, it's a more professional product due to it's technical design, the two products are like Apples and Tomatoes. And wait until the FMC and the visual model are out! The Lago bird then will be only a cheap babie's toy...If you want an accurate MD-80 playing in the same league like LDS or PMDG, MDMax is the ONLY choice.AndreasP.S.: I'll keep my Lago Maddog on my hard drive, just for the fun of it!

Steve I think you should keep trying because the Lago MadDog is well worth the effort... I know you'll like the aircraft once you get her up and running correctly.

I read on the Lago site that you have to install all the upgrades if you reinstall the MD80 not just the 1.40. Also I noted in the main Lago/Maddog folder they had a md-cleanup.exe that probably gets rid of all remnants of a previous install. You might want to run that too then reinstall. Hope this helps.Jim
