CPU upgrade advice

Featured Replies

The i5 2500k is a fantastic CPU. If you can overclock it comfortably to 4.5Ghz or better, then you are laughing as far as price/performance ratio is concerned. One of the best CPUs that Intel have ever produced. I would still be using one if I hadn't suffered a motherboard+GPU double failure at the end of July this year.

GTX 980 Update:  Got it in last night and am able to apply 8x SGSSAA in NI and am getting 30+ FPS smooth performance with all shadows maxed out in complete overcast with ASN.  The instruments on the Legacy and A2A planes have never looked better.    I haven't even overclocked the 980 and it's running at 1,417 MHz...holy $!#%!  My i5 is still not close to bottle necking my system with very dense sliders in the SoCal region....very good choice.

That's great. I suspect my gpu will slow me down as it's an ati r9 270x but that's what I got so I'll have to deal with it. Just happy to have a decent CPU
