May 5, 200521 yr Make that years instead of months...I traced the first post about FS2006 back to August 2003 on this forum, sometime in 2002 on the fs.com forums.
May 5, 200521 yr Hi Michael...you know it is a stupid statement, to call a fellow forum member stupid for asking a question.bt
May 5, 200521 yr I don't have a theory, but I'm currently enjoying flying instead of tweeking. Let MS keep there secret for as long as they like.Lawrie
May 5, 200521 yr You know, I frequently show various threads to my colleagues at work (who have no interest in simming) because they show some very interesting truths about human nature. In the community in which I work, these snippets of humanity can be used effectively to produce the results that we sometimes seek.It seems to be a common theme that absolute silence breeds: -conspiracy theories -anxiety-speculation-wide spectrumed rumors-mis- and dis-information-confusion-the need to be reassured-premature disappointment-hostilityI also noticed that a change from the norm (i.e. Microsoft usually announces new FS products every 2.5 years, and now it's 2.7 years, what's going on?) produces the same results as absolute silence. The wildcard being that to some silence or schedule changes mean absolutely nothing. I wonder what the human differences are that seperate the two personalities.Interesting....Regards,Mike T.PS. In regard to the original question, maybe MS just isn't ready to show anything yet?M.
May 5, 200521 yr Hi Robbie,Theory ?? Nah don't do theories, I've read them all before in the forums many many times !! Reckon I'm happy enough with FS2004 as it is now thanks....Quite comfortable waiting for the next version, whenever that may be. FS has never looked so good, epecially with the new system I've got now. Of course, if a new version comes out tomorrow - I'll go straight out and buy it anyway, just to do my bit to keep MS going of course :-lol But, until then, why not just keep enjoying this fantastic version that MS has given us ?That's about the sum of the parts for me anyway.... :-) RgsEd
May 5, 200521 yr Ricardo, that is simultaneously the funniest and scariest darn thing I've read today.
May 5, 200521 yr Nothing better to do at work than laugh at your perceived viewpoint on somebody elses motives and actions?
May 6, 200521 yr >I don't have a theory, but I'm currently enjoying flying>instead of tweeking. Let MS keep there secret for as long as>they like.I agree, Lawrie, almost entirely. While I do look forward to FS10, I also am VERY pleased that the core of FS (save occasional scenery, AI, AFCAD and EditVoicepack upgrades) is FINALLY just where I want it. No more tweak this, try that, hope-this-works stuff.
May 6, 200521 yr Those were the kind of thoughts I was having. Perhaps MS created FS10 to scale using a single core processor like previous versions. The only problem is that single core processors won't scale too much higher. We will probably only see one more series of speed increases from Intel and AMD before transitioning to the duel core processors, which will require a whole different approach to software writing. It was not until the Intel Prescott that we got wind of the fact that there was a serious heating problem with the respective processors. By the time news got out, MS were well in the development of FS10 and had to change gears. From this, I suppose that future computers will begin to mimmic more brain-like functions with parallel rather than serial processing, and that will require an entirely different approach to flight simulation. May 6, 200521 yr Alex:Try not to be so obtuse. I don't remember stating 'laughter' and I don't remember putting any smiley faces in my post so I'm not sure from what source you draw your conclusion. The Avsim forums are a microchasm of society as a whole and the human interactive dynamics parallel much of humanity as a whole. And since you asked, no we have nothing better to do at work since my work is to identify, illicit, motivate and harvest information from certain individtuals from whom information is not readily forthcoming.Questions? Thanks,Mike T.
May 6, 200521 yr The answer to this, and many other common questions about Flight Simulator, has been on the Microsoft Web site for several years (see the Readback section athttp://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimul..._readback.asp):When is the next version of Flight Simulator going to be released? What are the new features? If you've read the article Making Flight Simulator, you know that the Flight Simulator team is always working on a new version. We've published Flight Simulator for some 20 years, and we plan to keep building new releases far into the future.Flight Simulator has become a very complex product, and it takes a long time to create a new version. During the development phase, we don't talk about our plans, because plans change. Although we work from detailed specifications and schedules, as we create the product we often add, modify, or remove features. To avoid confusion, we keep quiet about the details of new features and release dates until the product stabilizes late in the development process. We don't want to promise what we won't eventually deliver. When we do have news about new versions, you'll find it first on the Flight Simulator Web site, where it is posted for the entire community to read.
May 6, 200521 yr Mike,Although a very fitting reply to Al's remark, I'm surprised that you responded to a troller obviously looking to incite reaction within this thread. Seems to reinforce your theory as Al is somewhere between the misinformation type (see his reply to my post) and hostility type mentioned in your post.As for the wildcard you mentioned, I believe those people have elevated themselves to a higher level through prior experience and purposeful exclusion of the emotions you mentioned. The major difference being those people understand nothing constructive results from participation in any one of the categories listed. If anything, perpetuation and propagation results.Bruce
May 6, 200521 yr Could you point to where anything I said would be misinformation? E3 is the big place where new products are shown, and FS9 is just a tweaked version of FS2002 and the patch took a year and a half to come out. There was no hostility in my posts, just trying to understand the motives for somebody who feels the need to "group" people and pretend like they understand human thinking and are so above this thinking that they themselves can do the grouping. And I find the comment about trolling and looking for a reaction very illogical. I was only responding to a post that was obviously trolling and looking for a reaction, the comment I was responding to had no place in this thread or in this forum. If you and the troller get pleasure out of insulting people and looking down upon mere mortals with feelings and actions you obviously are so above because you understand the human brain, then please why are you even here wasting your time?
May 6, 200521 yr You don't need to show any emotion for me to draw the obvious conclusion that you and your co-workers are getting enjoyment out of pretending to understand human actions and emotions and being able to group a small forum filled with people who enjoy aviation and claim this is a microchasm of society. But it's good to hear that about your job and it's nice to know another "group" is people who feel the need to elevate their self worth by looking down upon others and claiming to understand all their actions and emotions
