December 9, 201411 yr Hi everybody, Maybe it is a bug from FSX, but when I simulate a dual FMC failure in cruise and I use the ALTN LEG page to go direct to a point or a fix with coordinates, the sim freeze and go out to windows. Is anybody has the same issue ? Thanks, Vincent
December 9, 201411 yr Commercial Member Try a reinstall. That should be the last step, honestly. Re-installs are thrown around as fixes way too often around here. Is anybody has the same issue ? I haven't seen this issue. Please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com/Main/Default.aspx Kyle Rodgers
December 9, 201411 yr Actually it sounds similar to one problem i had with freezes and using the FMC. The solution was to modify the FSX.cfg to have [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=14 and then i reinstalled all the directX and Visual C+ runtimes. James Bennett

December 10, 201411 yr Author Hi, Thanks for the replies. I think also that re)installing everything without looking for the trouble is insane. So, this is what I tried : Set AffinityMask=14 STILL FREEZING Set AffinityMask=14 + Re-install DirectX and Visual C+, still freezing STILL FREEZING Flying with 1 FMC only and entering a direct to coordinates OK Flying with 2 FMCs failure and entering a direct to coordinates STILL FREEZING Any other ideas ? Thank anyway, I hope it will help for the P3d version. Cheers, Vincent

December 10, 201411 yr Are you entering the coordinates in the correct format? (it shouldnt crash things....but still) What happens if you go direct to a waypoint that is still in the CDU? (the FMC flight plan should be continuously copied and update to the CDUs so that when both FMC fail you still have your complete original route in the CDU for what is called alternate navigation). This made me think, some freezes i was having were initially caused by an out of data airac for navdata, inputting some waypoints caused a subsequent freeze around 30 seconds later if the database didn't recognise them.
