December 23, 201411 yr After days of extensive Google searching I haven't been able to find any good answers. Should I get the steam version of X-plane? If so have there been any issues with 3rd party addons? I figure with only a few hours left on their 50% off sale, now would be a good time to ask. Thank you in advance for your help! Joe Joseph Kerr
December 23, 201411 yr Personally speaking, You would have to be drinking copious amount of cough bottle not to get it on Steam. A big yes.
December 23, 201411 yr Is it the Global version? If so... prepare to wait a long time for it to all download. Personally, I have the DVDs and don't mind a bit, other than the stupidity of running the DVD all the time. Hey, you know... would be nice if Austin decided to give the hard copy users a break with the DVD requirement... H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g

You can change which regions you have installed/downloaded at any time

December 23, 201411 yr The Steam version of X-plane, unlike FSX, is exactly the same as the boxed version, and yes, it is the global version, but you can choose which continents to download. You won't have any problems with addons, they are all compatible. I can't think of a reason NOT to buy the Steam version. Cheers!
December 23, 201411 yr I too bought the Steam version a couple of months ago. I'd say go for it, but I don't remember getting the option to choose the download path on installation, so buy it but try and change the install path before downloading, otherwise it'll end up buried deep within the Steam folder. I also heard there are plans for betas to be available on the Steam edition at some point in the future, which would be an added bonus. Finlay Waller
