I recently made a donation to Avsim. I received a receipt from PayPal and an acknowledgement via Private Message from Avsim. Today I received this from [email protected].

 

"Thank you for your donation made earlier today. The email address used for your PayPal account does not match one in our user’s database. Can you please provide your user name on AVSIM? Thank you."

 

Since I have already received a PM to my account at Avsim, I'm not sure what to make of it. If it is legit, where do  I go "...on AVSIM..." to provide my user name.

 

It must have been resolved as you have the Donor tag under your Avatar so our system recognized you. If PayPal comes back with another e-mail address showing paid and we do not have that e-mail address in our database, it would be difficult to find the username and enable the Donor tag. I think the system automatically sends that message. Thanks for your donation!

We sent that thinking that your PayPal email did not appear to match our database system entries and as a result, you would not get credit for your donation. It turns out the system did recognize your donation and automatically credited you for having made one. You could have just replied to the email from donations at avsim.com.

Tom, I did not reply to that email because I was leery of what was going on. Since I had received acknowledgement from PayPal and Avsim, it just seemed "fishy".
