January 31, 201511 yr V.80 came out today. I am currently in the A340-600 (this thing is crazy long... try taxing with it!!!) flying from EDDM to KLAX. Huge step forward from the last version... the FMC is excellent as well as the flight model. The textures in the cockpit are still not up to par with... say Aerosoft, but it is not finished. I for one like it... and will be spending a lot of time with it. Phil Long
January 31, 201511 yr The A330 (and now A340 too) are on sale until tomorrow and i'm thinking of pulling the trigger, any show stopping issues at this point? Does it work well with time acceleration? That's a must have for me on long hauls... Dave Current System (Running at 4k): ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F, Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 5090, 55" Samsung Q80T, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, EVGA CLC 280mm AIO Cooler, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & Stick, Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant & Add-on, VirtualFly Ruddo+, TQ6+ and Yoko+, GoFlight MCP-PRO and EFIS, Skalarki FCU and MCDU
January 31, 201511 yr I'm also enroute with the A346 from TNCM to KPSP. Start up / taxi / take-off working normal so far. The textures are just ugly. The textures for Stick / Steering Wheel / Spoiler Lever / Flaps Lever / Trim Wheel / Overhead Switches are totaly broken in P3D v2.4. Btw. Does anyone know how to remove the fake reflections from PFD/ND/Windshield? Descent and landing was the hardest with the old version. I'll report back how it works right now with v.080. PS: The Load Manager didn't work!
January 31, 201511 yr The interior textures are currently on par with a middle of the road product. The actual systems functionality, FMS and exterior are in the higher tier. Please remember this is unfinished... one should not expect sharp textures, etc. at this stage. BB have made it clear this will all be given a treatment in the final version. For now, if you want to fly the A340 or A330 and can live without a top grade cockpit texture setup, I would pick it up. -Phil Daniel, FYI they already have a patch up on their facebook webpage for the throttle quadrant issue. I would follow it closely... they seem to be quick about addressing some of the issues. Phil Long
January 31, 201511 yr The calibration was tricky but it's doable without the patch. Right now 1165Nm to go and to investigate the arrival and approach procedures in v.080
January 31, 201511 yr So, the managed descend is a bit better now but that's all. If you own complex Add-Ons like Aerosoft Airbus / Dash 8 Q400 / PMDG 737/777 and so own... Stay away from this product. On their Facebook page they advertise something like "The very best Airbus Simulation" .... Maybe in v1.0 but right now a good Freeware quality (For 45€). Not more.... Wait for Aerosoft's A330. This one will arrive sooner than v1.0 by BBS... For sure!
February 1, 201511 yr I was looking for a widebody airbus and since the aerosoft version is still a way off, and i could get an a330 and a340 for about $40 canadian, i decided to give this a try. I'm reasonanly happy with it, especially given that's it's still a work in progress. It has some quirks, perhaps a few irritations, but for $40 for two models of aircraft (plus subtypes), i feel like i got a decent deal. At minimum, version 0.8 will be a good hold over until either version 1.0 or the the aerosoft A330 comes about. I just finished my first flight, an A333 from egll-cyul, and had no crashes, oom errors etc, so flight #1 was a success. I could see if i paid 45 euros a few years ago i might be irritated, but as a new customer at a nicely discounted price i'm happy.
