January 10, 201511 yr Hi All, After battling to get REX4 clouds to "look good" in P3D I ended up reverting back to the stock P3D clouds just to see. Well, it appears P3D prefers soft clouds and the repetitive pattern I was used to seeing with the REX4 clouds is virtually gone. Now, I guess I'm breaking out my credit card and getting my hands on the REX Soft Clouds package!! Here are some shots with the stock P3D clouds but REX4 for everything else. ASN provided the weather for this test flight.
January 11, 201511 yr I'm thinking soft clouds are low resolution clouds that look pretty good. So they should performance well generally. Did you try using 512 cloud textures to see how they compare against the newer cloud textures? Did you try using 512 cloud textures to see how they compare against the newer cloud textures? Hi Noel. I did try REX4 cloud textures at 512 but for some reason, the visual and performance gain (albeit small) using the stock P3D clouds is better. The repetitiveness isn't as apparent as when I was using the REX4 cloud themes so for now I'm letting REX manage everything else other than the clouds and I'm going to see how their Soft Clouds package looks which, from what I've seen so far, should be great.
