Track Ir 5 questions

Recommended Posts

I use the 3 reflector hat setup, works well and I haven't noticed a FPS hit ... I do get head motion stutters but that's more to do with where I have the sensor mounted.  I moved up to a 49" 4K monitor which moved the sensor higher up so it's cone range isn't optimal for my sitting position.

Just remember you need SimConnect installed.

I typically use TrackIR mostly during taxi/takeoff and landing/taxi ... during flight I turn it off (pause it) and remove the hat.  If you fly with headphones (I don't) they have an attachment for that which tends to work better than the hat/reflector setup (so I'm told).

Cheers, Rob.

What are you using for camera views? On Opus FSX, when I hit pause, then unpause, the view changes (even if i reset the TrackIR position), and switching views completely screws up what I inistially set up in the beginning (see this post for pictures: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/452612-camera-views-shifted/#entry3087719).

Even when the mods' solution just makes the problem less pronounced.

Ezdok. I own opus but don't use it. It's a pain in the you know what I think personally.

Makes me giddy,I also find I have to keep looking at some part of the screen and can,t look away properly when flying. It's the only thing I regret buying for FSX.

i can only recommend track IR 5 Pro. It is way more stable when sunlight (IR-Rays)hits a wall in the background . The Immersion is massive, in GA as in Big Stuff. It was one of the best investments i made in fsx. If you have the Saitek Yoke too, map the on/off button and realign button to the clockbuttons on the yoke - very useful. I love the little device...

Could you share how or where you map on/off or pause to your yoke switches would be appreciated

Thanks

I also recommend the Pro Clip. Other than the issue with both reflections and direct ambient light, the real problem with the reflector is that you have to wear a baseball cap. When it gets hot out, you might not want to do that. The issue with the Pro Clip is that it's very poorly made and is easy to break.

TrackIR is one the best hardware investments that a flight simmer can make. It doesn't seem to influence frame rates and when I put the TrackIR software on it's own core using AM, it rarely uses more than 10-20% of that core. Note that my system is several years old.

What are you using for camera views?

Using default views defined by P3D and/or aircraft.

I also recommend the Pro Clip.

Doesn't the Pro Clip require a headset?  That's why I went the open golf cap route ... don't really like to have a headset on and prefer my audio system to headset audio.

Cheers, Rob.

In the track ir software. Advanced options I believe.

Using default views defined by P3D and/or aircraft.

Well yes, you could get creative though. I'm sure your wife has a head band/hair band thing. If not CVS does.
