  1. His main problem is because FSX appears to almost stop after a few minutes also parts of his start up screen are blanked can't see any tweaking or adjusting settings is going to cure this. Could it be a faulty reinstall of something? As I have said there has been no noticeable difference between the 3 operating systems in my experience and I haven't even reinstalled everything.
  2. I don't think that anyone here as yet answered his original question. That is why is changing to windows 10 made his performance change so much? It can't be because of his settings. Thereappears to be more problems than that. Those tweaks to the config file may help but why should he have to do that if it was working ok in windows 7? I haven't a clue what is happening, but what I do know is that when I upgraded from windows 7 then 8 and 8.1 to 10 there has been absolutely no performance drop in FSX or any add ons. with the exception of the joystick dropout in windows 8 which is now cured in 10. As for using windows 10 for other things, everything seems much smoother and better all round, you also have the knowledge that Microsoft won't drop support and keep updating whereas they will do to 7.
  3. Yes, and this means that in my case, I have been buying addons fairly frequently, but I have now stopped because I am waiting to see if the new sim is significantly better. If other people are doing this, the developers must be beginning to notice it with lack of sales.
  4. I am more confused now. The topic is Headphones vs Speakers. Please correct me if I am wrong, but aren't speakers those things which emit sound waves which can get very loud if amplified. Headphones fit over the ears so that the person wearing them get hear loud sounds without them going any further. If I am wrong could you please state where, and as this forum doesn't usually go in for insults, as politely as possible.
  5. You say you live in a condo with thin walls. Shouldn't consideration for your neighbours be a priority?
  6. Can't get past the licensing screen ie those big red crosses, so it is useless for me.
  7. It is no problem to use offline but you still get nagged to go online when you start FSX. Also it must connect at some point because tyu get adverts on the start screen.
  8. Hit P when starting again to unpause it .Also there is an option to pause on task switch in FSX under General in the Settings just untick it and it won't pause.
  9. I have just tried to replicate the problem but can't, mine works perfectly now even when i open another application.( I use 2 monitors.) From your first post you appear to have tried the suggestions in the massive thread on this in windows 8. Joystick drop out was always a problem with windows 8 but for me it happened after I had been flying for some time. I solved it by getting the registered version of FSUIPC. Otherwise I haven't a clue Rather than have to do this why don't you consider updating to windows 10? It won't cost anything and people have reported that they no longer have a problem. I have one last thought and it is so simple that I think you must have tried it unless you are new to FSX. Does the sim pause altogether when you reopen the window?.In which case the pause on task switch option has been checked.
  10. I have had this issue for as long as I can remember. I have never thought that it was a problem. If in windowed mode and you go and do something outside the window, the aircraft keeps flying but the joystick doesn't work. As soon as you go back and click the window with the mouse everything works again. I should say that is not the same as the pause on task switch option which freezes the whole thing. Anyway, why would you want to use the joystick when the window is minimized and you can't see what the aircraft is doing?

I would like to point out that the registered version is the one that is useful. It does much more than the unregistered.
  12. This is a long shot because it has happened to me but not mentioned here. Is the autopilot on? I have had this happen even when starting a completely new flight with a different aircraft. Fsx sometimes seems to take the state of the aircraft from a previous flight It happens even when the new aircraft hasn't even got an autopilot. Cured just by pressing Z
  13. One not mentioned here is the Aerosoft Airbuses. They are complex aircraft, but you can have the help of a copilot who can take as much or as little of the tasks as you want. This way you can gradually take over as you learn to fly it.
  14. I have an Epson photo printer because I do a lot of photography, which is my main hobby. It is so old that I can't remember exactly when I brought it. I think I was on XP at the time. I have had 2 desktop computers and 2 laptops since and am now on windows 10. I have had no problems at all with drivers. I should mention that my current desktop which has FSX onit started out as windows 7 and Has been upgraded first to windows 8 then 8.1 and now on windows 10. I have done all this without doing a clean install and wonder sometimes when I see people on here having problems after doing clean installs if by trying to do the right thing, they are actually giving themselves problems.
