Dillon you must be flying with all your lights off in that room of yours, hehehe. The pc-12's vc happens to have 3 modes/options of backlighting (2 for the panel bitmaps & 1 for gauges) where the PIC ERJ has only 1 (gauges only), so your conclusions are a tad bewildering to me, and probably others who are reading this and own both titles. It sounds to me like you are disturbed about the how the SWITCHES operate (which i can understand to a point) but i cant see how anyone can complain that theres insufficient lighting in the pc12 when you can adjust it to be as light or dark as you like pretty much. If you arent bothered by the ERJ's complete lack of panel backlighting then its simply because panel backlighting in general isnt important to you, but it IS to me.As for the 737 statement i made...i think its obvious to most of the intelligent people who might read these forums(and i already made it quite clear before) that these were MY results on MY machine. It is NOT wrong for me to mention my opinions regarding my results obtained on any particular product, as thats what the majority of these forum posts are all about to begin with..one persons opinions/results over another's. I know there are others who are getting the same results and who feel the same way I do about the gauges.I hate to ever make any comparisons on these forums, however last nite i did a little test and loaded up both 737 offerings from the 2 different developers...i tested the smoothness of how the gauges moved both while doing a very short hop and approach as well as in slew mode on the ground just spinning around slowly, and while i found the EHSI compass/map gauge to be only twice as fast in the PMDG VC (that isnt saying much since theyre both pretty slow in the smoothness department) i DID find that my PMDG offered a MUCH smoother EADI making hand flown approaches and takeofs with the flight director MUCH more pleasing and easy. In the Ariane its VERY difficult to use the EADI as a roll/pitch aid because by the time the gauge moves and updates to the desired degree of pitch/roll I'm looking to attain id already be 10 degrees passed it as far my control inputs are concerned, and id have to give reverse control pressure to compensate and get back to where i wanted to be...so i have to sort of GUESS as to how much pressure is necessary to obtain a ceratin degree of pitch/roll...the PMDG allows me to be much more accurate & dependable in this regard.I emailed Airane again just to make certain that i didnt miss any updates in my download (as the gauge refresh rate was always a big killer in the original Ariane released NG line, and they claim the -700 is the very latest release with NO service updates as of yet, and in response to my complaints about the refresh rate i was they cant offer an adjustment utility AND i should just use the pop-ups.PS - don't worry about the ERJ advice you gave to me as i already knew it was just another opinion posted...i received alot of opinions on both sides of that issue going in...so no big deal.Dave

"The pc-12's vc happens to have 3 modes/options of backlighting (2 for the panel bitmaps & 1 for gauges)"Dave I'm not finding these options you mentioned with the PC12. I'm at work now but when I get home tonight I'll see if I missed something (it's been in the hanger since it's release). I haven't installed the update yet so that may be what you

the pc-12 vc lights operate without the patch...as a matter of fact i havent patched it yet, but probably will this weekend. The vc lights are tied to the NAV lights and TAXI lights switch...if i remember correctly the NAV light switch will turn on the overhead dome lighting effect, and that taxi light switch should turn on the backlit panel bmp...i think it looks best for nighttime if you leave the nav lights OFF and the taxi lights ON...you can play around to see which effects you prefer best.Whether the patch has addressed the cockpit lighting being tied in with the nav/taxi switches i have no idea myself, as i said im not patched yet :-)Dave

Dave, that's exactly what I'm talking about... You shouldn't have the VC lights tied to the NAV and Taxi Lights. NAV lights should stay on at all times during night operations not the dome light (you should be able to turn that off independently). The cockpit should be as dark as possible except to the displays which allows the pilot to have better situational awareness when looking outside the aircraft at night. These kinds of issues trouble me about the Flight1 PC12, no other release shows this kind of carelessness (even freeware)

agreed...im also unhappy with the vc lights being slaved to the nav & taxi switches...it would be very nice if this was cured in the update and the panel and instrument lights were given their own switches without affecting the navs and taxi...but anyway, the point IS that the pc12 does at least HAVE the ambient lighting available if/when needed in the vc, which is something sorely lacking in most of the older releases we've seen and some new ones as well (such as the ERJ PIC145).PS- if you get the patch installed lemme know if the switches have been addressed :-)Dave

Well Dave I just installed that patch and I'm sorry to report the light switch issue hasn't been addressed (BUT EVERYTHING ELSE HAS :-jumpy)...The PC12 in sim performance has much improved, the gauges are a heck of allot more fluid now, both PFDs are working for the pilot and co-pilot, all outside lights function as they should, and it seems the interior VC lights have been adjusted to better fit the panel so night lighting looks wonderful in the VC now.I'm happy to report that the PC12 is now one fine aircraft. I take back everything I said before... With Update 2.0 the Flight1 PC12 has finally arrived... :-) Now back to the Ariane VC... :9

a shame about the lights issue, most freeware VCs have this problem, I wouldn't expect this from a well known quality payware producer... Oh well looks like until they fix this I won't be buying the package. Can you at least get the VC in the cargo model now?

We have a 'GO' on the Cargo version Alex... Now all I need is some great liveries for my cargo runs in Hawaii... :-hah
