February 4, 201511 yr During approach on every flight, the FO (US voice, if that makes a difference), skips from Flaps 5 to gear down and then Flaps 20. Is this intentional? Is their some way to get her to first step to Flaps 15? I am a new user so I am probably missing some setting, but after going through the manual, the configuration settings, and this forum, I have not yet been able to find a solution. Thanks, Andrew J Andrew Jones
February 4, 201511 yr Hmmm well this might be a case of difference in standard operating practices. Some airlines will argue that flaps 15 is NOT an approach flap setting, it is only a takeoff flap setting and there is no real benefit to selecting it versus going directly from 5 to 20. Some airlines have no problem with using flaps 15 on approach. So perhaps Bryan programmed it based on the information he might have received regarding this. February 4, 201511 yr Author In that case, it might be a good idea to make this an option selectable with the CFG button. It is not a huge issue, but depending on circumstances (weather, tight traffic spacing, failure of gear to come down), some pilots might prefer using the intermediate Flaps 15 setting. Even though speed is the same, Flaps 15 allows for a slightly quicker reconfiguration and acceleration should the approach need to be rejected during the turn to final. Andrew J Andrew Jones
February 4, 201511 yr Commercial Member Correct it goes Flaps 5 to Flaps 20 in Button Control, which is generally how's it's done in real life. We'll consider adding 15 as a CFG option in a future update. But if you want more control and flexibility I suggest using Voice Control. Best, B.
