Bleed Failure

Featured Replies

Using service based failures I have a bleed failure on no.1 engine, happened after a full power go around.  Anyway can a flight dispatch with one bleed inop and use bleed from the other engine for pressurization?

MEL's vary among operators but the question is would you do that?  I for one would not do that and if circumstances dictated being in the air it would be below 10,000.  I've had pressure failures, they're serious business.

Yes you can but the limitations are pretty restrictive.  Our MEL allows for dispatch with one engine bleed valve secured closed.  You can't operate above FL250, you can't operate in known or forecast icing conditions and we can't be dispatched out of the 48 states.

The valve has to be physically secured closed by maintenance which is a time consuming procedure.  Usually it's only done to get the airplane back to a maintenance station.
