May 31, 200521 yr What are some good add-on sceneries for the mid-west US? I'm specifically looking for smaller GA type airports, but anything but major hubs is ok. I was planning some cross-country flights this weekend and noticed that I have a large gap with no addon scenery in the middle of the country. What do I mean by mid-west? Basically anything not on either coast at this point. Looking to fly between the coasts and need interesting places to stop. High framerates are also important for me. I found a few nice addons in the library, but the fps hit was too much on my PC. Also, are there any airports which are interesting with just the default scenery? Finally, are there any fs2002 sceneries which work in 2004? I do have Lago's FSE as well, so those sceneries are fine. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
May 31, 200521 yr This might not help, but Lago offers a georender (I believe it is called Bryce Canyon) which is in Utah. That is about the only scenery that comes to mind that is GA and not located on or near the coast. Now that you brought it up all of my add-on scenery is either on the west or east coast. I guess there is not much of a market.David
May 31, 200521 yr Thanks for that one, although I did already have it. I'm especially looking for anything in the Kansas / Missouri area, but any suggestions are helpful :)Even if it isn't addon scenery, even nice looking default airports would be helpful (nice surroundings, etc). Thanks! ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
May 31, 200521 yr :-lol Yes, and you guys have been developing it since January, 2004 (check the breaking news on their website).I have really looked forward to this one, as a former KC resident flying out of KMKC. I cannot imagine what could possibly take so long. They must have had some programming/programmer problems along the way.I am still waiting, but after a year-and-a-half, I am no longer holding my breath. When it is ready, it will be ready.Wilson
June 1, 200521 yr I have a couple of mid west sceneries that are not bad. (all found here in the library)Missoula, Montana - kmso_jy1.zipJackson Hole, Wyoming - jksnhole04.zipAlbuquerque International, New Mexico - kabq2004.zipAspen, Colorado - aspen04.zipSt. Louis, Lambert - stl2004.zipDenver - dia2004v11.zip (there is also a payware Denver scenery made by imaginesim)
June 1, 200521 yr If you had spent the time to read on the OSS site, why KMCI has taken this long, you will find that we had to stop development of KMCI and move onto Shoreham/EGKA as Justflight needed the scenery asap, as it's being included in their Flying Club package.Once Shoreham is complete we will move onto finishing off KMCI.All the main designers have full time jobs now since these changes, so the time available for doing these projects is limited. These are the reasons why the projects are delayed, plus projects for us take a year or so each (Gatwick took us just over a year), because we concentrate on detail and quality.... but that's what the customer wants, isn't it?Cheers
June 1, 200521 yr I didn't know there was anything in Kansas/Missouri area. Is there?ThomasN15802KASH
June 1, 200521 yr >I didn't know there was anything in Kansas/Missouri area. Is>there?Well, I am :DI'm trying to do some local airports, but time is limited. They'll be on Avsim as soon as I can complete them.-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!
June 1, 200521 yr Author The Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer is a free download and the package comes with a nice, basic-modeled airfield in KS where the flyer took off and landed on its single-pilot, non-stop circumnavigation. Excellent for GA use. Not available through AVSIM, but you can still probably download it from the virgin atlantic global flyer main site, if it is still up.Also, there is a really beautifully made stearman package that comes with a mid-west field that is great fun to fly out of. It's a grass strip. Download from AVSIM.Gee, also the MAAM KRDG is really awfully nice, and free too. Probably just what you are looking for. Download from AVSIM, search the library using MAAM and KRDG as keywords. There is some nice photoreal version of Meigs (still intact). Also very nice.If you like lakeside GA airports, Project Ontario makes a very nice Toronto. Strongly recommended. And KOSH, also free.Come to think of it, there is actually quite a bit available. Good hunting!
