Is it still idea to get both? Is water effects the only thing that can be mentioned?
June 5, 200520 yr FE2004 has clouds, water, and sky.it also has optional sun textures and extended contrails for altitude flying.FE's water is a total update to FSWater including textures to better blend that long distance hard line you get with all other water add ons.the Clouds look great, and will have advantages of higher fps then other clouds on some systems, even when using the full size 32bit textures.there are 1000's of cloud, sky, and water combinations and the randomizer and favorites options is a big plus as well.
June 5, 200520 yr Sorry if we did not make it clear.FE has much improved water compared to FS Water, no commparision really. Clouds are pretty spectacular looking and there are over 19,000 options available to us now of just the cumulus01.bmp clouds. The cloud opitions is massive and the quality and visual impact are very much improved compared to the default clouds.I'm not sure if you'll like them better than the cloud textures in Active Sky or not but they will be compatible and should at least look different as no two artists will produce the same effects and look unless they copy each other and that has certainly not happend between FSW and FE.I'm sure you can appreciate it's not really very polite for me to say FE is better or for another user to say they are not as good as anohter; all we can say is that FE customers are very happy and rave about the product. There are some people who don't have FE that hunt these threads down and a few names come to mind who keep coming up connected to negative posting aimed at me on any product I have released. No doubt these repeating offenders will attack other developers also from time to time. Such is life and nobody is complaining but we do want to try and stay polite here and not make ugly remarks or claims that are unjustified. What we are all trying to do here is avoid making statements that seem to bring on these slanging matches and this kind of question of which is best; as a head on question will almost certainly provoke attacks at both poducts unless we keep it all very polite.Having not yet seen the ICS clouds in ASV I would not want to make any second guess and even if I did think they were different; which they must be then I would say that they are different. So with difference as the way to think of it getting both products will have advantages and the customer who has both will have more options to chouse from. It's not really a qustion of one or the other; it's a bit like saying which is better a 737 Next Gen or a 747 Classic. I would want both and I certainly am looking forward to getting a copy of Active Sky and I'm 100% sure I'll love it. Equally, I'm 100% sure any user of FE will without question want to get Active Sky and Damian has promised to work with us so we can all benifit from ICS cloud selection. What this means is that anyone who prefers FE clouds should soon be able to enjoy Active Sky to the full without compromising what they like about FE.I hope this helps but I do feel another question coming like, but which is best......? LOLPeter
June 5, 200520 yr Hi Spook,Yes, it is going to include sky textures!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
June 5, 200520 yr Author >the Clouds look great, and will have advantages of higher fps>then other clouds on some systems, even when using the full>size 32bit textures.I have to comment on this since honestly after extensive testing I see no performance advantage in using either the latest ASV/AE textures or FE clod textures. Both are equivalent when comparing their full-blown 32-bit rendition. As a matter of fact one could state that "ASV/AE will have advantages of higher fps then other clouds on some systems...". The phrase "on some systems" I would replace with "for some users". Two folks will look at comparable sscenarios and won't agree where performance is higher. I just wanted to add this in the spirit of honest advertising ;)Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg Michael J.
June 6, 200520 yr here we go, so are you saying I'm lying?the "I just wanted to add this in the spirit of honest advertising" is insulting.Once again, many, many, many customers of FE are stating they are getting better fps. Some used default clouds before and some used FSSW.God I hate it when people feel they gotta call you a liar just because they are one of the "some" that didnt see the increase.Oh, it's you AGAIN Michael.....I should have known youd join this convo....:-roll
June 6, 200520 yr Hey Michaeel; we do appreciate your comments but you do seem to be trying to bait Scott just a little. Maybe you are not concious of it?What point are you trying to make? Is it a complaint about not being able to find an improvement or are you complaining that Spook is making a false claim, which he is not; he is being totally honest and he is being totally helpful. The problem here is if you continue to hunt ###### posts down like this and lay down direct or veiled attacks at the spirit of honest advertising there will be no option for me other than to withdraw our comitment to support this forum.Anthony and Spook have been very helpful and continue to be very helpful and the danger here Michale is in the spirit of honest advertising that the end user gets less honest help from biased peopole who do not have the real in-depth knowledge that people who like Spook do.Trust me Michale; Spook was the first tester to raise fps issues and he has been on our case since day one. And if it was not for Spook FE would not have such fps friendly sets. It was Spook who insisted that we use performance clouds and made them work faster and it was Spook who said this latest set U146 is slower that U145 etc.So I'm quiet sure Spook is feeling pretty upset after trying to help out with honesty and personal experience only to find he feels attacked by somebody trying to teach him morals.I can't thank Spook enough for being so honest and I have never known Spook to exgerate and I have nver known him to lie.So Michale; please at least consider saying thanks to Spook and please appreciate he as a beta tester earns no monies out of FE and has no advantage other than maybe the feeling one gets from helping somebody out. I do think it would be really nice of you to aknowledge Spook in a more positive way.Maybe it wasn't you the last time but Spook has been hunted down a few times now by somebody saying almost word for word what you said here. Maybe it's ###### passion? I don't know; but he is sensitive like any genuine person and needs to feel customers are supporting him not attacking him.Peter
June 6, 200520 yr my issue is people (micheal) that dont see the fps increase claiming that I am lying when I say some users do see it based on their systems.....not based on their perceptions but a real fps increase and if thats over FSSW or the default clouds then so be it, some people get an increase, the F1 support forum is full of these posts, go check it out Mike.
June 6, 200520 yr "I just wanted to add this in the spirit of honest advertising"Michael, that was uncalled for. Let's give it a rest between you and Scott, please? Your cooperation would be appreciated.
June 6, 200520 yr Author Tom,Sorry but words like "lying", "attacks", "morals" have nothing to do with either the spirit or the content of my post. I am dumbfounded. I woke up to read this bizzare exchange not knowing whether to cry or laugh. If someone wants to spin it for his own purpose I have nothing to do with it. I will say no more.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg Michael J.
